DCT vs. 6spd - is there that much of a difference in acceleration?

I've driven both, and the 6Speed cars felt slow. Maybe it was the gear spacing.

Is there really that big a difference in mod for mod trap speeds, street races etc between these two transmissions? Or does a competent 6speed driver (jonmartin?) stay right next to the dct cars?

From what I've seen the DCT is LIGHTNING fast, no 6 speed will ever be able to shift that fast, it's just not physically possible. Having an extra gear, and with each gear slightly shorter are MAJOR plus'!

The only down side to the DCT is going to be when modding for big power, but hopefully Sticky's build will address that issue.

The DCT is super, super quick. No manual will ever match it, just impossible.

The DCT is quicker in the 1/8 as it is geared closer from 2nd to 3rd.

In the 1/4, the manual stays in 3rd from the 1/8 to about the 1/4 mile mark where it has to shift into 4th. From the 1/8 to the 1/4 the manual is geared better than the DCT:

    Heres the 6MT
    1st 43 mph
    2nd 73 mph
    3rd 111 mph
    4th 148 mph
    5th 171 mph
    6th 196.2mph

    The DCT is:
    1st 43mph
    2nd 71mph
    3rd 97 mph
    4th 124 mph
    5th 150 mph
    6th 173 mph
    7th 208.4 mph

The shorter gears definitely help down low and on the track but once you get past 90 mph the manual has an advantage with more torque at the axle. I'm going to try longer gearing the DCT next which should give it the best of everything.

This is true, but I did have a set of DR's, tools and a Jack in the car. Click here to enlarge But honestly JM's car and mine were always close, much more than any other NA M3 I ran DCT or 6MT.

Ill put it like this me @ 6.5 lbs of boost and Sam @ 5.5lbs of boost did a rolling run and I would pull about a car on him but as soon as he would shift we would b neck and neck. The race pretty much continued like this until about 4th gear. I dont know who would of pulled away up top but point being DCT with less power kept up to my 6mt with more power...So unfortunately DCT will almost always b faster. But on the + side 6mt can handle more power with stock tranny.
