BMW E82 1M coupe dynojet dyno numbers, horsepower majorly underrated

Now, the BMW N54 twin turbo has been underrated since inception. The first 335's dyno'd in the 270 whp range which is right around what an E46 M3 puts to the tires. The difference is, the E46 M3 was rated at 333 horsepower and the E9X 335 was rated at around 300 horsepower. M3 owners have fragile egos that need to be protected after all and BMW protected the M3 image. The underrated N54 trend continues with the BMW E82 1M that Insideline dyno tested to 331 wheel horsepower. The car is only rated at 335 horsepower at the crank, meaning this is the most underrated vehicle BMW has ever produced.

Difference is just pretty much the software. It's the same motor, BMW can give this software to any N54 they want to.

Nope, no top end, nothing like a traditional M motor because it isn't a real M motor.

All of the "new" M motors are like this. We'll see what they do with the F10 M5, they are working on improving the top end of the S63 motor in that car.

This is what im talking about, he seems surprised about the top end. We all knew it would have that curve.

I hope BMW wakes up and keeps their next gen M-cars NA. The 1M proved to be a great car, but I don't think it deserves the M badge. They could of just called it 135IS GTS or something.

The thing is, without the M badge it wouldn't get the attention or sales. It SHOULD be a 135is, but this is the new age of BMW.

That is what I don't understand. Not a single professional reviewer is standing up and calling BMW out. What the hell? Nobody? Some are even comparing it to the E30, it makes me sick.

Yes, the 1M is a fun car to drive and a great car, but let's not be blind as to what is going on. Would BMW send me a 1M to test already? I'll give it a proper review.

Absolutely. It is way too quick to be M-car. It beats both e46M3 and E60M5 at Nordschleife. Throw in even a mildest JB+ tune on top of the 1M and it wins e90 M3. I think it should have been called twinpower rather than M.

you sure it was 331 whp? The other articles i read said that was corrected to crank, putting hp dead on but torque fairly under rated.

What ever it is that is cool. Fast little ride. Let's see, add aFe Stage 2 CAI, Supersprint Down Pipes, Metallic Cat System, Resonator, Connecting Pipe and then figure out the exhaust when they come to market for the car. Dinan Software, StopTech Big Brake Kit, H&R Trac Spacers for the wheels to go the edge of the wells, hmmmm, what else? Click here to enlarge

Where did it say it was corrected? Article provides the graph at the wheels.
