Temps are one thing I don't have a problem with up here in Calgary.

Even after a good few hours thrashing my car the other night, the temps were still at a cool 220 ..

Could a FMIC ever benefit a car in a cooler location? We do have the odd hot day, but they are few and far between .. whenever I drive my car hard, it's usually in the cooler evenings.

A larger fmic is not going to help your oil temps all that much, it's more for heat soak, iat temps, and less psi drop..

We do get the odd 30oC day in the summer (86oF) .. but they are few and far between; I'd say the average summer high is about 18oC (64oF), with the evenings considerably cooler.

The highest my oil temp went last summer (stock), on the hottest day with aggressive driving, was around 245oF.

Ah.. fair enough. I'll be keeping an eye on all those variables in the logs as the temps vary.

No doubt! I'm thinking it'll take atleast 2-3 hours minimum unless I can find a lift and a few hands to help.

I 'm very interested to hear how much a difference a big FMIC makes on a JB4 tune only N54
It makes a noticeable difference as I just installed the CP-e intercooler and oil cooler. Works wonderfully with the JB4 on Map 5!

Thank you. I myself haven't used map5, I'm still on map 1, but then I only have a JB4 and drop in K&N filter for now.
Na FMIC is nr 1 on my wishlist, but they are hard to get here, and very pricy...

You can use Map 5 with just the JB4 and no other mods. It is the quasi-auto tuning map. Try it, you may like it.

I was not liking Map 1 too much and switched to Map 5 and liked the results. At that time my waste gates were rattling and I think my performance was off. I have new turbos now and the car is running much stronger (even when stock).

Map 5 is fun and if you're doing WOT runs, it adapts pretty well, but I found it wasn't consistent. Map 1 is stable and I know the results, so sticking there for now.

This week has cleared up so hopefully by friday I should have it installed *crosses fingers*

Just installed my HPF FMIC over the long weekend... talk about a sh!t load of trimming... bent a few fins getting that sucker in too! Oh well, now that it's in I'm loving in... stands out a little bit more behind the lower grille, but overall is still pretty subtle. IATs seemed to stay well below 100 even when pushing the car well past triple digit speeds on long pulls at night, in high humidity, and 80 temps.

Glad to hear the HPF piece is working well for you and that you are happy with it.
