Evil Twin Robs HPF Stage 2 M3 throws a rod

Not sure what happened here so I'm not going to speculate. However, I don't understand why these failures keep piling up. The stock motor cars are at least more understandable but a bummer for Rob who is a nice guy:

Since my block is toast, that seriously increases the cost of going to stage 2.5. Since i'm going to be unemployed again soon, even another stock motor is going to be more than I want to spend right now. I honestly don't see this car leaving the garage until sometime in 2012.

Some early numbers from this car, VERY healthy. Believe it was turned down before he got it or who knows what really:

No, that Rob is some douchey kid who is a total tool. This Rob is a different guy who is a nice/real person who actually takes his car to the track setting some impressive times instead of making sigs with the dyno numbers and then talking down to everyone.

Damn, that really sucks. Rob seems to be a really good guy, it is a complete shame he has to deal with this. Hope he gets it back up and running quicker then he anticipates.

Exactly, just tough that he is out of work right now so this came at a very bad time. He can't use his block again which complicates things and raises the cost.

If anyone has a tip on a block at a good price, maybe we can help Rob out.

Yea sucks. Was he making 700+whp on stock internals? That's asking for trouble if so. Sucks either way.

I think that was just a glory pull early on. Car was dialed back from the 20+ psi or whatever it was on that pull.

correct, it was not released to him at the HP level, it was dialed back to the advertised specs.

Not uncommon (happens in the E36 world all the time), but likely correct.

I saw his car's topic on 2009. How many miles did he used the HPF without an issue?

    Good question.

Anyone know how many miles his motor had and how many miles with the turbo?

Not a waste to push limits, I just don't understand why it would be done on a customers car.

Now that these have been on the market for a while this may be a true sign of the reliability of these.

Thats why I called it a waste. It shouldn't have been done on a customers car. Why dyno a car just to say hey look it made this much power for 25 seconds.

Because people love glory pulls and to show off dyno numbers to stroke ego's? How often do people use dyno numbers to market or to show capability? Some even let them go to their heads, like that guy M33 for example...

I can't fault Rob here because he went to the track to get real numbers and didn't use his dyno as justification of performance. I doubt it is his fault HPF did some high boost pulls.

He did extremely well, he still has the E46 ET record but his traps were off: http://www.bimmerboost.com/showthrea...raps-disproved

Very fast. I have a feeling the stage 2 car's can spool faster due to the higer compression unless the 2.5's and up retain the stock compression?

Built motors do not retain the stock compression. HPF has not officially said what it is but I think 9.5:1 is a general educated guess based on some things I've heard.
