Maybe BMW did find the solution for the dreaded HPFP. I doubt we'll hear anything soon about it on the 1M, since its brand new. Hopefully someone will lend their 1M to Terry to test it out and see if there is any benefits to this new fuel system.

Not even really sure what I'm seeing there or how it differs.

Why would this filter make a difference?

With N54 track record on reliability how can you ask that?

That doesnt answer the question though. What I mean is did BMW discover what the real problem is and adjust the whole fuel system as a result? And what did they discover?

It's a good question, don't know if anyone has the answer.

The filter exists only on the Euro market 1M, US region retain the same line setup as that of 135i without the filter

Here's the part numbers for anyone interested in trying a retrofit :

    The corresponding in-tank pump :

The parts can also be found by looking on RealOEM.com at the E82 - M Coupe - Europe region - any prod month - either side drive will work

the retro fit works on any n54? to me, you seem to know a lot and be quite modest with your info, which is a good thing in life, but not on the forums Click here to enlarge does this filter thing actually have any benefit? and does the in-tank pump change in any mechanical way? or is it just connections and lines?

Good info there man, but i find it odd that they used the new setup on the EU 1M and still retain the old system for the US. Isn't the US having the most problems with the HPFP? Not questioning you, Snertz, but why did BMW make that decision?

From my understanding, it's mainly a change for cars going to China as a safeguard possibly due to poor quality fuel there. I'm guessing that it'd mainly be a change of connectors and lines, but that's purely speculation at this point until we can see one in person and take it apart. Unfortunately I don't have any further information on which specific countries get this change.

Looking at the HPFP failures in this country it doesn't seem like fuel quality was a cause of the failures, maybe that's why BMW didn't make this change to US bound 1M's

Right now it appears that this would only work for 1ers since the 335's feed line is slightly different

I'm gonna do some more digging and see what I can find Click here to enlarge
