Pretty much you have to go through Microsoft.

    A third attack is planned:

An observer of the Internet Relay Chat channel used by the hackers told CNET today that a third major attack is planned this weekend against Sony's Web site. The people involved plan to publicize all or some of the information they are able to copy from Sony's servers, which could include customer names, credit card numbers, and addresses, according to the source. The hackers claim they currently have access to some of Sony's servers.

Oh, and umm... Sony royally $#@!ed up:

According to Spafford, security experts monitoring open Internet forums learned months ago that Sony was using outdated versions of the Apache Web server software, which "was unpatched and had no firewall installed." The issue was "reported in an open forum monitored by Sony employees" two to three months prior to the recent security breaches, said Spafford.

If Sony was a 'nice' company, they would probably not be so open to attack.

But they are not. So they are.

How cheesy and misguided was that.. LOL

I found out it was back earlier today, so turned on my PS3, and it downloaded a HUGE update .. must have took an hour or so to download.

Then it asked me to change my password, so I did, and now I just keep hitting errors. Guess it's everybody trying to get back on at the same time. I gave up in the end.

they sell kits online which fix the RROD...supposedly the thermopaste used to attach the heatsink to the processor becomes undone, and it overheats.

The fix costs like $5..you get new paste, a new contact pad, and you are supposed to clean it all up, add the paste, attach the heatsink and let it run open case for 20 minutes with the fan outside of it. During this time it will overheat, shut down and you reboot it after waiting 30min for it to cool down. Attach the fan, close the case and 9/10 times it will boot up and resume running normally.

The states in red represent which states have the PlayStation Network at this time.

This is kind of funny, Sony updated their PSN TOS to state you can not take part in class action lawsuits against them if you click agree:

Yesterday Sony sent an email to PlayStation Network members regarding a change in the Terms of Service for PSN. When agreeing to this new terms of service, you must waive your rights to a class action suit against Sony.

It's Sony, they think they can do whatever they want. I'm surprised they don't state they also get your soul and your body parts for testing once you die.

It's called a class carve out. Back in April, SCOTUS held that the FAA preempted state laws disallowing class carve outs. See At&t v. Concepcion, 131 S. Ct. 1740. It's one of the worst decisions to come from the Supreme Court in years. Awful and goes against everything the law stands for.

Agree with you completely on that. Doesn't even make sense to me.
