    More CPS dyno testing

    Hey guys,

Spent a couple more hours on the dyno testing out the new fully user adjustable CPS offset interface. It works similar to map 6 where you enter the offset amount in 500 RPM increments.

Since the last round of testing I've gone back to the factory 135i 2.75" catback, factory mid cats, and factory rims/runflats. All runs were done on map 2 (14.5psi) and Shell 91 octane for consistency except where noted.

I have a lot of data to go through so will only share a subset. But after testing a few various CPS curves w/ 91 octane, including more offset down low, more up top, etc, I came to the same conclusion as last time. Meh. No amount of offset allowed the car to support 14.5psi on 91 octane without drops. Click here to enlarge

So I added a can of NOS octane booster w/ MMT to my full tank to test just how effective it was. And was pleasantly surprised. Easily up to 93 octane as advertised. After a couple runs timing and power were up. Ultimately just like the last round of testing the most power and smoothest curve was obtained with no CPS offset.

While I had the car strapped down I took the opportunity to test the built in speed limit defeat and found that worked flawlessly. It's built in to the new CPS module and if you want to enable it all you do is plug the two spares in to spot #17 on the gray subconnector. For professional drivers on closed courses only.

While it was strapped down with all the talk of fueling I decided to answer the question of how much torque the stock turbos can support. And frankly I was pretty surprised. Now keep in mind this is through the factory mid cats and exhaust with heavy stock rims/tires. With 91 octane, denatured alcohol, and a can of octane booster. The chart speaks for itself. I think 500rtq+ is easily doable. Interestingly I found no air/fuel problems at this torque level. Which is odd as we've had problems at this same torque level with larger turbos. As always work continues. Click here to enlarge

Interesting... so then I don't understand how Enrita was claiming you could run more boost with 91 octane with offsetting?

Cleaned up your attachments for you Terry, please get in the habit of using "insert inline"

I'm going to have to edit vbulletin somehow to force people to use that option.

Well then I don't understand all the talk about the huge boost/power advantage without race gas or meth. Sounds like it was made with unsubstantiated points.

IMHO they really hyped the crap out of it because it was something they included that we didn't. Now that we've done the work to add it we'll implement better than they did, and include full user adjustability, but all in all nothing I've seen has refuted the data we collected in early 2008 showing minimal benefit.

On the plus side we've also added a speed limit defeat to the CPS module, which many out of warranty will find useful. So there is a little extra "value added" with this module. Click here to enlarge

Is speed limit delete only possible with the CPS module?

We have another SLD only module currently, but we may discontinue it, as the CPS module will now do both. And cost around the same. $85.

If no advantage on pump gas has been found YET, honestly if any is found in the future how much of an advantage can it yeild? im guessing very minimal if any is found. Not sure what all those pro-cps guys have to say about this, as they were so set on this.

They'll just move on to the next thing to complain about. No worries here. Click here to enlarge

About 80% done programming the new user interface changes that allow RPM by RPM CPS and AFR adjustment to go with the boost adjustment already available. No other tuner aside from CPE currently offers this. We'll see what they have to say then...

    EXACTLY.

And with the way Enrita was talking about this only being an advantage on pump, well, where is it? It is clear to me at this point this entire CPS nonsense was blown up as a marketing ploy and many bought into it without even understanding what it really does.

We're hoping at higher boost levels to find some benefit. That was the main purpose for developing the add on box. If there is nothing there it was just a complete waste of time. =/

By the way. We have a batch of 250 in the works. Who wants to preorder? LOL

Just market it as being safer for your motor as well as better for the environment. Who cares if you have no proof, right?

Now I'm tempted to order a JB4. I was trying to wait until it was out of the beta stage, but now I'm just excited.
