Sticky: i'll be going crazy, but it'll be street crazy, which is to say, TS crazy. Pistons, rods, clutch, diff, brakes, braces etc all in due time. Probably have Karl do the clutch during the install, but he was more worried about the frame when i said "Stage 3". I think Zo's kit is at Stage 2 currently, no gasket changes required and i figure i'll leave it that way til i rack up some more mileage on the engine then do the internals, meanwhile get the frame prepared.

Damn, you intend to take it much further than I thought you were.

I'm not sure of too many people running built motor E36 twin screws so it will be great to see.

    She's gonna be effing MAJESTIC..

There's 85k on the odometer right now and i know these units decrease lifespan, so i figure i'll be ready to build by about 100k. I figure i'll reset the trip odometer to keep track of the SC maintenance. I'm frustrated cuz i just got a new stock clutch like a year ago, maybe i could sell it or something.

I wish there was such a thing as pre-built crate engines. The stock ones seem amazingly cheap compared to the cost of age-related repairs on an old one.

Crate motors would be great but nobody does that. Not really much of an issue since so many pats are available as well as engine builders for your platform.

That, and people like to pick their own parts. I've often thought i might buy a crate engine to replace a stock one if/when enough expensive repairs happen at once to make it financially practical, but that was before i got the M which i knew from the getgo i was gonna build after a good long period of mastering its stock power. But i get bored when i'm not scared so time for an upgrade, hehe.. and driving school..

The deal has been struck, it'll be here early next month!

Now looking at clutches.. Frustrating cuz i just got a new OEM clutch last year, but probably better to pull it now and sell it as near-new than just fry it. Plus the engine will be hoisted getting the headers installed so good time to do it.

    Congratulations!

I wish I had a vendor to recommend for your new clutch but I don't, maybe someone else will be able to help.

No do not use clutchmasters. They suck for our cars. If you want I can sell you my clutch for 150 shipped, or buy it new with a flywheel for 500 shipped

A clutch that is holding 452wtq, and 500whp more then a TS'd m3 will ever make. This setup is under rated. I know of 7 others running them to around 500whp link to ebay... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/F1-RA...Q5fAccessories

GG i could use a nice clutch deal right now as the OEM will be useless right away and i'll be strapped from the outlay. How's the noise on it, in your opinion? Don't want it too clacky.

What about South Bend? I currently have the UUC "notsosmooth" Cerametallic. I have a south bend stage 5 clutch on the S4 and it feels almost like a factory clutch. Very easy engagement and the pedal is not stiff. I had a stage 2 South Bend clutch on my previous Estoril M3 and loved it as well.

    That sounds about right.

Also, regarding the option GG gave me, i've read that the TS works well with the stock flywheel. What do you think?

Lightweight flywheels tend to have chatter.

Who ever is tuning ur car can raise the rpms to 950rpms, and you'll be fine. Or contact the seller of the kit to find out if the clutch can be used with the stock flywheel. You can always keep the the stocker or sell it.

Ok people, should have the TS installed in a couple weeks, please post requests for specific dyno stats you wish to see included in the review so i can request them to Karl. If he doesn't charge per-pull i'll do a before too, but i'm at around 230whp right now with the intake, exhaust and Conforti tune on a stock engine. It was 211 before the tune.

I've been making the rounds researching that F1 clutch GG suggested, and although the forum bluebloods over on m3 etc poo-poo them, i could only find positive reviews from those who had them. Most of the naysayers were recommending the M5 clutch, and some saying the stock one held 400bhp, but the AA exceeds that pretty easily. Whether the stock clutch could handle the full brunt of Stage 1 even, i dunno. But i doubt it because it slips with me even grabbing 2nd hard, unless that's that dreaded disengagement mechanism they use to to guard the drivetrain against too-hard shifts. But it happens even with ASC off. So i think i need something stronger.

Do like the idea of a lightweight flywheel for boost reasons, also. People keep saying the stock one is more streetable, but i think taking drag off a boosted engine could only help streetability.
