And if that isn't enough Eddie Bello is bringing his Porsche out with a new set-up! It's gonna be an epic weekend, I just hope all those guys keep it safe with the speeds they'll be reaching.

The Omega is a development car and anything they deem ready for the public goes into a new kit so I guarantee Alpha 20 won't be faster than Omega...it's crazy how much power is being made man.

No neg repping from me just because someone doesn't agree. But you can't see from what you posted that Fd(drag) and Cd(drag COEFFICIENT) are two different things?!
03-05-2014, 06:59 PM
:deadhorse:it's not Cd that increases with speed it's DRAG.

It's insane bro...I want to the the billet block AMS motor in action!

You just tend to alter your wording to avoid being wrong...to the point of not deferring to a math major when advanced equations are involved.

Agreed! Are those kits you posted links for referring to 2000whp?
Thanks for helping clear up my point...

UGR hasn't allowed anyone to catch up so that it can't be played out! Other shops are starting to do some nice work on the gallardo platform too so it just keeps getting crazier.

The way your point was worded said that frontal area creates an advantage as speed rises and i just proved that not to be the case as well as the fact that Cd is constant. If it wasn't manufacturers...

No. Because in the equation for Cd the numerator and denominator are growing proportionately with each other due to speed so drags(Fd) impact isn't increasing over frontal area(A) in a way that makes...

Lol, i'm actually a math major and drag funnily enough is dependent on speed, http://www.bimmerboost.com/images/imported/2014/03/62d3059eaee8114874c3b801ffa214a2-1.png
A = frontal area
u = speed
03-05-2014, 01:36 PM
Nope. The gallardo has more drag to begin with so the drag will be higher at top speed than the gtr's. If you look at that equation it's not varying the effect of frontal area with changes in speed.

I hate to be a broken record but explain why motorcycles which have minimal frontal area suffer so much at high speeds? Also, i must add I love this forum because a lot of the members here always...

Cd is constant which is why it's measurable. But I agree that drag does change with the environment.
All i've been saying is frontal area is a variable but all that really matters is the final...

Cd is static unless you have adjustable aero like F1 cars with drag reduction. A bike always has less frontal area but drag squares as speed doubles so it slows down drastically on the top end. If...

Frontal area is a variable in the equation for drag...that is my point. The frontal area doesn't matter if the end result is less drag...because frontal area is only a part of the equation but not...

Bikes prove my point that drag is more detrimental to performance than frontal area which people seem to confuse.
03-05-2014, 11:42 AM
Drag is drag, regardless of frontal area. In this case the GTR's drag advantage isn't enough to overcome a car with less weight, a wider powerband(most likely) and more power.
03-04-2014, 11:14 PM
Frontal area isn't an issue...if that was the case then explain why motorcycles have worse drag than cars despite having an infinitely smaller frontal area.
03-04-2014, 10:02 PM
The gtr actually has a lower cd than the Gallardo. Don't let the frontal area fool you, lol.

ALL manufacturers do this crap with dry weight so no disappointment here. If I can find it i'll post a link but some exotics have been advertised with "semi" wet weights to get a one up on companies...
