I'm interested how DME determines knock. I currently have some experience with ls1 and "think" knock retard (at least on ls1) is primarily based on amplitude... which is not the best approach i'd...

I don’t think you can relate voltages between NB and WBs. NB is passive with voltage reading either rich/lean depending on O2 content. WB tries to keep a fairly stable voltage using current to pump...
You can make a DV tester with few parts from home depot... very useful for peace of mind.
clear hose with clamps necked down to quick connect and use a large syringe to equal pressures.
25" at WG and 6" close is pretty conclusive for working vac system and WGs. How about turbo to IC... check it thoughly. When logging any "new" swing in fuel trims after the install?

Comparing WP and PTF, the approaches are similar…
WP is setting a WGDC which exceeds the MAP in the mid-range. PTF does similar DC tuning which is apparent in the top end. Which is worse… MAF on...

Ahh, thank you for the warm thread welcoming… glad to be here.

What? This is exactly what PTF does (or did for the longest time)… set a high target and bump off the DC max. Is it really that much different.
Do other platforms have the “hey I can tune the...

Ha, torque vs HP discussion… every month there’s one on this forum. When factoring acceleration, torque is useless without time… which is HP. You can take torque at x rpm but you have to relate 2...

Can do an experiment to see max VANOS... my idea is to exaggerate set points and see actual. This should give the limits.
In general air flow when MAP>exh BP its best to reduce overlap. But...
right, but they can open multiple times with min of like 1/10ms... but good luck with the programming in the DME. I don't think cyl pressures are a concern, especially in the first half of comp...
Thanks I'll prob replace them when I redo my pcv. For now I took the easy route and reduced sensitivity in the pcm... i'm on E45, but still all rattly noise scare me and there's a bunch on an old...
I've written a DC table almost from scratch before and changed PID... not easy. Along with WOT have to log everywhere inbetween also.
On the fueling side, I found some old logs... inject voltage...

IDC isn’t so useful unless you know the window set and seems this is based on pressure according to Tony’s explanation of what happened during the dyno sessions. Note that Tony stated that AFR...
09-05-2014, 08:04 PM
Huh, I was exactly right... explaining that you are running out of injection window. The reason higher pressure setpoint didn’t help is because the DME may adjust the window based on pressure. Still...
09-05-2014, 07:39 PM
hmmm, cough... I be quiet.
Did you up the pressure setpoint?
09-05-2014, 11:27 AM
Yes of course, as expected... the point is that there's multiple causes for not meeting AFR target in this case.
09-04-2014, 07:01 PM
oh man, I feel obligated to explain. Correct, injector has plenty of flow based on communicated specs. But injector can only open as much as the DME will allow it. DME has a window which has not been...
09-04-2014, 05:48 PM
With the valve more open Tony will get higher pressure and this will help but there's 2 causes here... IPW and rail pressure. DME has a certain injection window, which we do not know... we can log...

doesn't matter who, its what's being said... this is straight forward stuff based on data. If you take the time to read/response, hope you consider what's being said. Or you can just wait until DZ...

Look Tony, you meeting pressure setpoint may get you back to AFR BUT these logs are good insight into potential further issues… especially with ethanol. Hopefully you are trying to understand what...
09-04-2014, 02:30 PM
Well I got kicked out of Tony’s thread… he does give a bunch of data (meant to say has fallen short in HP).
Anyway, comparing these 2 setups would be very interesting if the OP is not using...
09-04-2014, 01:45 PM
Well I know DZ won't admit any mistake, but it would benefit you to consider and learn from my observations.
and the fear mongering comment is just stupid... we disagreed on some tuning aspects and...

If the scalar was adjusted properly, you need high pressure setpoint but this would mean you are running out of injector window set by the DME which I "thought" was not possible. Again this would...

Good work Tony… these look great!!
Hey, comment on the fueling. From the logs I viewed it is NOT hardware but 100% tuning. DZ needs to up the scalar in the top. The HP is dropping but only...

I miss forum fun times… have to make comment…
These 2 graphs are very revealing on the turbo side. I guarantee Tony’s is pushing more boost to reach a similar HP. These turbo designs are NOT the...
