Sounds like the LPFP to me. When my LPFP sensor went I had the 29f3 code and no actual symptoms (like dzenno said) which makes me think it's the actual LPFP. Perhaps not getting your sensor fixed...

DI + 8lb of boost isn't some ridiculous high strain environment that requires forged pistons. Cast would probably work fine in that situation.
