Sounds like the LPFP to me. When my LPFP sensor went I had the 29f3 code and no actual symptoms (like dzenno said) which makes me think it's the actual LPFP. Perhaps not getting your sensor fixed...

DI + 8lb of boost isn't some ridiculous high strain environment that requires forged pistons. Cast would probably work fine in that situation.

Is anything bigger than the 5" ETS even neccesary? Yeah a larger interecooler like the helix or HPF or whatever would be "better" but by how much? Does the 5" heat soak by any significant measure?...

Why do you think it's so interesting that the EGTs drop so fast? I'd definitely assume that would happens since the boost drops immediately and you're running much less fuel combusting -> less heat....
