so what hose SHOULD you use?

he said built head - build head definitely flows more than enough, has been proven.
of course it can - there's nothing magical about the N54 that precludes it from being modified to rev higher...

ohhh is this the one that was shown in the VAC thread? interesting
it sounds absolutely insane
i'm guessing reliability>innovation?

well, not quite.. Tony used the wrong fabricator, yes, but no one said 'hey don't use them they will take too long!'... If he was told that, this situation would be the same
This situation is just...

i know just how it feels to learn from ones mistakes *looks at non-drivable car in the garage*
honestly not sure if it's worth it... i mean, i've learned a lot, but $#@!, it's not like it doesn't...

of course you can!
not for all things, of course, but downpipes are downpipes.. some tube and some welding. $1200 would get you a reputable fab shop one-off job, and change.. installed.

Isn't 304/304L better than 316/316L for a high temp turbo manifold? (better at handling heat) plus being cheaper. I'm assuming at sch10 or thicker though, the 316 would be fine if at hand?
i know race teams that run enough aero to run on the bump stops install pressure sensors under each one.. get a solid number on how much weight of downforce there is in total.

I've been reading a lot about welding and manifold fabrication lately, there's so many different opinions, information that completely contradicts others
lots of sources say 'woo thick 304!'...

that's a reasonable amount of weight to me, purely from that one item
sch40 must be crazy thick, no worries about breaking there lol.
07-10-2014, 01:35 AM
sch30 is WAY thicker than 10 no? is weight a concern at that size?
a thinner tube with bracing would have to weigh a good amount less than sch30, let alone 10?
07-09-2014, 06:40 PM
What would be preferred out of Sch10 304L and 321 16ga?
the sch10 stuff is thicker, so stronger, but the 321 is suggested in general as the 'best' to make a manifold out of given high temps? even...

F32,F33,F36,F82,F83: with wheels* ;) but seriously... this is...
with wheels* ;)
but seriously... this is probably the first car i've REALLY followed right from rumour 1 all the way to now... can't wait to see the crazy looks it gets, silly stance, full race...

i was assuming it was OP who was the fabricator, full DIY style?
the only 321 pieces i can find look like... at least twice the price, maybe 2.5x
still, better off going with the material...
it's pretty cool how OEM it looks... but $1450 will get you a WHOLE bunch of really nice discrete physical gauges installed quite well still haha.
I do agree with tony on this one... I'll be...
07-08-2014, 10:16 PM
how much more expensive is correctly sized 321?
07-08-2014, 08:10 PM
would a good rubber flexible mount be alright to mount the turbo with?
or does the engine move THAT much on it's own mounts?
yeah I guess it would have helped a lot more a little while ago, before workarounds were found.. but swapping in other transmissions for one for sure...
i guess slightly more hassle-free singles?...
well, it's there
it's welded shut and we'll need to break out the plasma cutter, but it's there..
For Sale: bump reasonable offers accepted.
reasonable offers accepted.
no one has yet built/tuned a turbo setup that will make power past 7k
well they have, on a 6AT that can't rev past 6800...
haha ya i know, apparently motec is still cracking along on it.
07-06-2014, 07:17 PM
yeah probably makes it default to zero degrees, which hurts everything.
mmm, the thing that makes the N54 work so well, the DI system, is exactly what holds it back in a lot of aspects hah.
oh wow, so if someone were to want to do it... well it'd be fairly easy to do?
I plan on running E85, no meth whatsoever, and the ability to seamlessly swap between 98RON for daily driving with...
