Just to put this out there (after discussing this in detail with SPEC), whether the disc is sprung or unsprung, this does not affect the gear clatter (the noise the gears make when they mesh together...

Did you change your mounts to solid/harder mounts? That would definitely increase the NVH

It's the pilot shaft (alignment snout) that goes into the pilot bearing. It does not need to be removed from our flywheel.
