It's fair sure. But it's also fair to bring up the E92 M3 with the carbon roof. It shows how much weight can change based on things like options alone.

I don't know if the E9X is better engineered yet. I have to wait and see. All I know is BMW essentially misled us about the weight savings. "

There are things that made an M3 special, this was one of the largest (the engine) - they changed direction, and I think that's silly. I understand but I don't at the same time. Just an FYI, didn't neg rep, almost never do that $#@!.
Besides the V8 and the V10, M's weren't the best sounding. Yea the E46 m3 had a distinct tone, and it was equally loved and hated. Even though BMW has changed direction with the turbo, I still think the new car will give just as much enjoyment as any other M. No, it won't rev 8000rpm or above, but that won't prevent the car from selling as all the rest did. I still see this car as an overall win.
I wasn't concerned with the negative rep though. Its a part of the game. No sweat. "

" Not yet doing a few things like cleaning up the welds making the intake to head gasket better just gotta make the kit a little better the price for the kit is so expensive for the quality of it but at least there's something to work off of and make it better no way in hell am I going to use the stock fuel injectors the guy says you can but I say no I drag race a 11sec turbo car and fuel is everything you run lean kiss the engine goodbye I'm gonna run 32lb injectors a guy from ess tuning told me the car will run fine as long as I use bigger injectors and the FCD on the mass air sensor "

" I saw that. They picked the heaviest E9X they could aside from an E93.

Due to the carbon roof it makes more sense to compare to an E92 with a carbon roof as well to minimize variables but you're going to see these cars vary depending on how they are optioned.

However you look at it are there lighter E92's? Yep. Is the F80/F82 as light as BMW claimed? Not even close. "
