I was at the MotoGP race this past weekend. It does not sound like a N55 with a bad exhaust. It actually sounds really good. "

" Just had a long talk with John over at DocRace, as usual a stand up guy. Looks like they will be working hard to get the kit finished asap. I think everyone is just a little frustrated on the time frame here, but John brought up a good point. We went to them after others had promised and didn't deliver. So they really are not to blame for any of the wait. Looking forward to finally getting this done. "

I remember mate, thanks... everyone here on the boards has been great and a guy TimNYC who has the 1200 whp 996TT offered help as well as markski, the GIAC guy etc

I also bought the Eurodyne tuning package just to educate myself a bit more on what mods actually add or subtract...

I expect I will end up with the new fueling, upgraded ICs at some point, 2.5 clutch (Sachs) at some stage and maybe modded turbos to reduce lag... having driven mainly N/A cars for 32 years it is interesting when the BOOST hits and you go all GIGGITY in your seat............ "

I'm also saying I see smaller turbo kits coming out for less than the current FFtec price of $6750, there's already a manifold available for $2k top mount, and you can get 550hp turbos for under $1k. So already it's feasible to have a single turbo setup better than stage 2 turbos with around 550whp for $5-6k. We'll see kits for $4k before long, I'm sure. That's why I said I can see stage 2 turbos becoming obsolete, they're only reliable at levels of minimal gain over stock turbos, and as more single turbo setups come available, the stage 2 market will just pretty much be gone.

Not NOW...but in the future.
Pretty simple math, you want stage 2's with no thrust of billet wheel, $2499. You do the install yourself, and you have some gaskets, etc. So you are very close to $2500 before install parts. $4800 is what those same stage 2's with no options would cost installed. Yes if you start checking options, things do get more expensive, and yes I do agree the single adds a lot of reliability, but it comes at a price. A $4K turbo kit sounds pretty scary to me. A lot of china would be going on. "

" So after a few days of tinkering with my Durametric set up and running every log under the sun Todd Knighton worked out my car is tuned way too "boosty" for my stock injectors and fuel system..

we are hitting 1.23 bars boost at 5k rpm or so and then we run out of the gas...... injector limit hit 100%

Attachment 37513

Next stop will be Protosports in Jersey who does work for Protomotive for an upgrade and plugs/coils probably "

We actually have something coming soonish which should fit right in between these 2 areas.

" It sounds more or less like any turbo 6 with stock exhaust muffling. Quite an empty rasp, but that could be the camera. IDK what you guys were expecting, I guess it is concerning that this sounds outright bad. N54s and 55s just sound boring stock, not “bad”. "
