If I told the dealer I planned to supercharge and wanted to build the motor they would void it all right then and there. They encourage you to buy their 'Performance Parts' rather than going to the aftermarket. They just want money. They certainly do not give a damn about giving you the best options to modify your car you own.

They have gotten worse about this, not better. I'd love for BMW to actually encourage modding but their behavior and own parts division is designed now to keep maximum profit for them and actually to cut the aftermarket out.
BMW builds a product and they guarantee that product against defects for 4 years / 50,000 miles. They can't guarantee that it will continue to function properly when a random assortment of aftermarket parts have been added onto it or when the calibration of the engine computer has been altered by any random guy. How does that make them pricks? They can continue to offer warranty coverage on their own Performance Parts because those parts were developed alongside the original car and have been tested just as thoroughly as the stock car and are known to work properly.

If you build & boost a motor, you're absolutely insane if you expect the original warranty coverage to still apply. "

" I have this.
CM fucked up my order 3 times resulting in 4 months of downtime and lots of out of pocket for what should have been a simple one day job.

That said, they covered parts and of course not labor.

Ive reviewed it before on this forum. It works well, I have a dual bronze disk version. Holds plenty of torque, no slip. I hardly stall it but valets and mechanics regularly do.

Chatter is there:
You cant hear it with the clutch in, really...
You cant hear it while playing the radio... "

Use an off the shelf pump gas standalone tune. Do something conservative.
Log what you're logging now. Look for timing drop-outs. If timing drop out coincides with increase of IAT, adjust the IAT compensation tables in those cells to more aggressively cut timing with IAT increase.

On a fresh pull if you get timing drops then reduce timing table until you're straight.

Do not increase over the baseline map, you are not experienced enough not to blow up your motor.

When you are ready to spend money and make power safely get a piggy and cobb combo and an on-dyno protune. "

still a good buy though and there will be a hell of a lot fewer flash related failures as this can be done via OBDII unlike the TSI gen 1 which had to have the ECU cracked up to flash. "

I'm not a finance guy (happy to ask them though) but my initial take is this. It's really just an addtl. $5mm in guaranteed cash over two years. Then all parties can take a step back and re-evaluate. Seems fair for a pretty special 'back but you always worry about the speed guys when the wheels start to fall off - it's usually a swift an unrelenting decline (see Johnson, Chris).

PS Marshawn is out of his gord if he thinks Schneider will give him a "new" deal in that sense of the term. They just re-upped him two years ago and are loaded at running back behind him. 28 YO power backs with that type of wear don't get new years tacked on, not to mention the awful precedent that would set for the rest of the team.

SEA is just too deep to appease vets who want new, big money contracts. I'd be shocked if they added a penny of new money to his deal. "

" The CM FX700 is a completely different beast than the FX850 though, @alex@ABRhouston. The FX850 has larger diameter discs and has different friction materials available, which make it much more streetable. I've driven an FX850 in an Evo X with the most street friendly combo (1 kevlar, 1 ceramic) and it was fine, absolutely nothing like what you've described. I looked up the FX700 though, and it does seem brutal. You should really try the FX850, you'll be surprised

As for Spec, my cousin has a Spec twin in his Evo and the hydraulic TOB kept failing, and they didn't have a good fix for it. It also had two unsprung discs in it and was like a light switch in terms of engagement. Best twins I've experienced are Exedy, CM, and Comp. "

Last time I checked motorsports were about fun, and going fast. But being in loud old vibrating beasts as a daily driver, that is not always fun. But I guess this thread is not about actual comparisons of older fast cars and newer fast cars, its only about whatever you want it to be. I got to get back to work. I am now honestly gun shy about posting about anything these days, even if its something fun and pointless, as Uncle Sticky will just come out to the backyard and tell us we are wrong and stop horseplaying. VargasTurboTech created the thread Stage 1 F10 M5 turbo upgrade test vehicle wanted.
" Hey guys, we have acquired a few sets of M5 turbos and are in the process of upgraded them to a nice stage 1 upgrade with clipped turbines, and larger billet compressors. Since we do not own an F10 M5 we are looking for someone willing to test them for us, this would mean installing them, logging, and dynoing the car before and after the install to document results. We are preferably looking a car with upgraded DP's Exhaust, intake, and running a JB4 tune, and meth kit as these parts will be required to take advantage of the turbos. The deal would simply be, you pull your stock turbos send us your cores, and the Stage 1's are yours to keep in exchange for testing and documentation. If anyone is interested please email us at sales@vargasturbo.com with M5 test car in the subject line.

Thanks! VTT Team "
