Sticky created the thread APR's Stage III Eaton TVS1740 supercharger kit now available for the B8 S5 4.2 V8 - 550 horsepower to the wheels.
" 4.2 liter V8 B8 S5 owners your day has come. APR released their Eaton TVS1740 based Stage III supercharger kit for the S5 and the power gains and performance numbers are very impressive. The S5 is not exactly a powerhouse in stock form putting out 274 horsepower to all four wheels. On 91 octane pump gas with the TVS1740 output goes up by 207 wheel horsepower to 481 wheel horsepower.

The torque numbers thanks to the positive displacement blower also get a huge bump going from 288 wheel torque to 453 lb-ft at the wheels. The torque gain thanks to the TVS blower is instant which no doubt makes the S5 feel like a whole new car with a huge new motor. The 100 octane race fuel numbers are even more impressive with output at the wheels going to 550 and torque going to 501 lb-ft.

So what does this do for performance? A stock S5 does the 1/4 mile in the mid 13's at roughly 105 miles per hour. On 93 octane with the APR Stage II supercharger the 1/4 mile improves to 11.24 @ 124.68. On 100 octane this improves even further to 11.16 @ 126.92. A night and day difference to say the least and what is even more impressive is that this was achieved with a manual transmission.

So what is the price? Either $15,749.99 or $14,749.99 depending on the model year. If you want the full power capability you need an upgraded fuel pump which is not included in the kit. You will also likely need an upgraded clutch. Then there is also the intake and exhaust that should be upgraded to not become a restriction. Yes, this all becomes very pricey but with APR you know it will all work as it should and be reliable. "

" Hrm interesting. I see it is failing reading which is really strange since even without proper error handling, reading always seems to work ok. I also took a closer look at BB Flash and it turns out it is handling those errors similar to how I described except for some of the timing waits and maximum retries. Those differences wouldn't explain the issues with various PCs and K-Line cars though.

I'll double check the link configuration and some other things to see if I can spot something that might explain these problems. "

It's more like a nuclear weapon - everyone wants to know where it is and how big it is, but no one wants to run in to it in real life

Yes you can. Terry's method was only so you could retain the factory connector for reverting back to stock. It also shouldn't matter the polarity on these either. "

Please remember to bring or by two way radios before the event. This helps in safety and keeps you in the loop of road conditions. Also knowing where Johnny Law is helps.

Amazon has them at a good price with the link above.

Lastly remember to sign up on the Google doc as route and other drive details will be posted there.

mjmarovi replied to the thread Renntech BMW N54 Flash Tuning, 100+ wheel horsepower.
" @BuraQ no one is doubting the results, I'm sure it's a very high quality flash. I just want to know what all you get for the price and feel I was fair in assessing the overall feelings anyone would have if they were to research tuning options. I mean in the end you are saying it is basically a COBB OTS map, which hey, that's great, competing with the best flash currently available. But why so much? What do they do for people when they upgrade? How can they adjust the tune from a remote location?

You're right, people that are clueless about the aftermarket world such as a friend of mine who had a 335i a few years ago and did all Dinan are happy to pay the price and feel the performance. But I'd gladly take $1500 and flash someones car for them with a Cobb AP and turn a quick $600 profit assuming I don't have a wholesale account. I just want to know the difference and advantage. A warranty is a big deal, cause that means it's a better option for new or nearly new BMW owners, so that would be a big deal. Hopefully @Mike@Renntech and shed some light in that area.
@Sticky I'm glad they posted it, and wish more vendors would be involved in the N54 platform, just wish there was more info. I understand he's a new guy, and I think some guys are being a bit harsh, I don't feel I'm harsh, just asking proper questions for information I feel should have been included. I mean, where's the sales pitch?

Look Mike, I know you're doing your job, and copy and paste your product details from your website might work on 6spdonline.com or bimmerforums, or whatever, but I'm just giving you a heads up, that won't happen here. However, if you show you have a valid product on this forum, us members at bimmerboost like to spend lots of money on our cars, and I think any vendor that has a good product and comes out with supporting details is more than rewarded on this forum. Just ask Team MFactory. "
