" Jaguar is very serious about the upcoming entry level XE designed to take on the BMW 3-Series and Mercedes-Benz C-Class. The XE will sport a lightweight and advanced aluminum architecture. Aluminum is nothing new for Jaguar who has been using the lightweight metal for some time now in their sedans and started doing so before most of their competition.

What is interesting to note about the XE is that it will get an advanced suspension architecture inspired by the F-Type. This is great news as Jaguar's previous X-Type model that was intended to fill this same niche in the marketplace and also go up against the 3-Series was a letdown partially due to its Ford Mondeo inspired platform. Jaguar is not borrowing a cheap Ford platform this time.

What they are doing is using their premium F-Type suspension components meaning the XE is shaping up to handle quite well. Along with the aluminum frame and state of the art suspension components a new lightweight four-cylinder 'Ingenium' engine family will be offered.

Expect a 2.0 liter turbocharged engine although the horsepower and torque figures are not known at this point. Jaguar in a previous leak stated their supercharged 3.0 liter V6 would also find its way under the hood.

The XE makes its official debut later this year on September 8th. The car is shaping up very well. "

As others have mentioned NO anti-seize is required on these plugs. The anti-seize reduces the friction between the threads so you don't have to overcome that when torquing which is why over torquing is a concern even using an accurate torque wrench. If you do not know the specifics torque spec is generally reduced 20-30% if using anti-seize in an application where it is not called for. It's best not to use it all in this case. Will it cause an issue in this application? I don't know but I'd rather not chance it.

Remember our plugs and generally any plugs that have 'shiny' threads have a metal shell plating like nickel which acts as the lubricant/anti-seize. Black or dark threads generally do not have this coating and therefore usually require anti-seize. "

" Good news for owners of the new Volkswagen and Audi EA888 2.0 turbo motor. APR has released their tuning software for the engine which covers the 2014 up Audi A3 2.0 and the 2014 on MKVII Volkswagen Golf GTI. The software is flashed through the OBD-II port and has programs for 91 octane, 93 octane, and 100+ octane race gas. APR also bumps the redline up to 7100 rpm from the stock 6800 rpm.


So what are the gains? The baseline on a MKVII GTI is 210 horsepower at the wheels. On 91 octane with the APR tune this rises to 281 horsepower on the wheels. 93 octane boosts power further with the APR tune taking the car to 291 wheel horsepower. The race gas figure is 303 wheel horsepower.

APR did not take the tuned car to the drag strip but did some VBOX performance meter testing. Their 93 octane VBOX trap speed is 97.19 miles per hour. The trap rises to 110 miles per hour with the Stage I tune on 93 octane. This figure will be lower on an actual drag strip as the VBOX tends to read higher.

Was going to point out the anti-seize but it seems other people already did. Honestly, probably doesn't matter that you used it, especially if you have a digital torque wrench.

I just tightened mine with a normal wrench, I personally don't think torqueing it to exactly 17ft-lbs is extremely important. "
