I would think that reducing the duration would help, but then you would give up hp. The easy solution to me is ramping up boost pressure. A very popular LSx tuner in my area by the name of Dan Maslic, who has written books on tuning, says hes is a fan of doing this to keep making power in the upper rpm range on engines that don't flow well. This is a great thread (due to all your technical points, just kidding, I mean due to my technical points) but add substance to it if you are bringing it back from the dead. Forum 101...
considering it is relevent again with a new option, people may want to see its been discussed before., so what i quoted was personal choice, but it needed to be bumped

also, i was going to quote the best information you provided in this thread, but decided not to:

Sticky created the thread The Porsche 997.2 Turbo S continues to show its strength at the drag strip in stock form - 10.7@127 Turbo S 1/4 mile.
" A couple weeks ago an article was posted on PorscheBoost showing a stock 997.2 Turbo S going 10.6@129.8 in the 1/4 mile. Absolutely incredible performance out of a stock car. In case anyone thought that run was a fluke here is a video showing another 997.2 Turbo S at the drag strip this one going 10.71@127.73. This just confirms the Turbo S on street tires is a car that is just short of mid 10 second performance making it a stoplight terror.

It also shows the PDK is deadly consistent. Just look at the launch. No fuss, no drama, just insane acceleration. This car is a beast.

Eric335 replied to the thread Detailing Products..where?!.
" Just bought myself the Porter Cable 7424xp in a kit that included:
1 CCS Orange Light Cutting 5.5 inch Foam Pad
This light cutting pad is designed for the removal of mild to moderate swirls and scratches and light oxidation. This is a dense, closed cell foam that effectively levels the edges of scratches until they become flush with the surrounding paint. The orange light cutting foam pad is the most popular pads for the Porter Cable 7424XP and it works on the most common paint imperfections.

1 CCS White Polishing 5.5 inch Foam Pad
Less dense foam formula for the application of waxes, micro-fine polishes and sealants. This pad has very light cutting power so its perfect for pre-wax cleaners.

1 CCS Gray Finishing 5.5 inch Foam Pad
Composition is firm enough to withstand added pressure during final finishing to remove buffer swirls. It has no cut and will apply thin, even coats of waxes, sealants, and glazes. "

Lol, I was just as confused. It's funny because it's not that complicated.

8000 rpm = 133.3 rps = 266.6 strokes per second = 3.75 ms per stroke.

Concerning overlap at high rpms reducing cylinder pressure, wouldn't that be something you could minimize by tuning the Vanos system for your particular high rpm application? This question is basically for my own edification. "

" Yes, and unfortunately very addicting. When I had my 2003 SVT Cobra Mustang, MPG varied wildly depending on how much I was pressing down on the go pedal.

Avg: 16 MPG around town.
Best: 26 MPG from NY -> MA @ ~75 - 80 MPH
Worst: 7.5 MPG around town. :-D

As others have pointed out, as you have a fixed unit in which you are compressing, you are generating a bit of heat. The way to make more boost is to spin it faster, which reduces efficiency, heating things more. A air-to-water intercooler is ideal in these setups, but require custom intakes, which if I read it right, has been done here. It should make the car even more of a beast.

" little update.

Code that was being thrown was a fuel pressure sensor. We replaced that and no more limp mode. We yanked the DR's off and tossed my street tires on and zero shifting issues now. ALTHOUGH I have been using the shifter and not paddle for high rpm shifting. We are thinking it may be something related to the paddle/steering wheel some how. We are gonna do some more testing this upcoming wed at the track and see if it resolves the issue. "

I haven't put the article up yet. It wasn't able to pull to redline due to the clutches slipping but at 7200 rpm 773 wheel horsepower. New world record not even at full strength lol. At 8500 rpm that should be... well I was so happy after I finished this article I went out with friends, celebrated, and had fun. Check out this blonde:
