A little love for our Polish BMW enthusiasts from BimmerBoost. Here is a video showing some drift action on Polish city streets. Yes, city streets, but speaking from experience Polish city streets are quite wide open late at night in certain areas and make for a fairly safe environment to have some fun as depicted in the video. This is in stark contrast to American videos we have seen of enthusiasts playing around in heavy traffic. ...Published on 12-30-2012 12:10 AM
The BMW S1000RR is a flat out badass bike, hopefully everyone is aware of this. You don't have to go accelerating to top speed speed to have some fun as the video below shows. It's a "Gymkhana" style take with slow motion and running over objects what is impressive is really the level of control the rider has with such a powerful superbike. Said rider being professional stunt rider Jorian Ponomareff so it goes without saying to not try this at home. ...Published on 12-28-2012 01:10 AM
Here are the latest spyphotos of the next generation F15 X5 testing. The SUV will continue to be built in the United States and what is interesting is that it would appear production might begin as early as August of next year. The N20 is likely to make it under the hood so the X5 will have a four cylinder option. Other engine choices will be as they are now with the N55 turbocharged six for the xDrive35i and the N63 V8 (likely the technical update version N63tu with 450 horsepower) for the xDrive50i. ...Published on 12-27-2012 04:19 AM
This is a continuation of an article first posted on AudiBoost back in October. Just goes to show how far magazines lag behind the internet these days as this comparison is just being published in the February 2013 issue of MotorTrend magazine. Nothing much has changed since first reported but BimmerBoost has the whole magazine spread to post now with all the data. The Audi S8 is simply lighter, faster, and better than the Alpina B7 based on the F01 750. ...Published on 12-24-2012 09:50 PM
Very surprising race here with an ESS VT2-625 supercharged M3 taken down by an all motor LS3 Camaro SS. On paper, this race should easily go the M3's way considering it is claimed to have 570 wheel horsepower at 7.5 psi and also being the significantly lighter car. 570 wheel with a dual clutch transmission is good for 130 MPH trap speeds which a 520 wheel Camaro SS won't match. More power, less weight, dual clutch trans, the M3 should win rather easily. So what gives? ...Published on 12-23-2012 06:21 PM
The M6 in this video is an F12 which means it is a convertible. It also means it is a bit heavier than the coupe with a curb weight of 4312 pounds versus 4088 for the coupe. Realistically though, even if the M6 in the video was the lighter coupe it would still get beaten by this Z06 just not as badly. The Z06 in the video simply pulls away rather easily even when the M6 gets the jump and it makes one scratch their head as to why a video M5board was promoting showed a C6 Z06 with a tune struggling against a stock F10 M5 which features the exact same S63TU Twin Turbo V8 as this M6. ...Published on 12-22-2012 09:01 PM
We know the F22 2-Series coupe is coming as evidenced by recent spyphotos. We know BMW is considering an entry level M car which would likely be based on the F22 or F20 platform. An M2 would be necessary to compete against the Mercedes-Benz CLA45 AMG and Audi RS3 Sedan. Audi is already preparing to boost output of their 2.5 TFSI due to competition from Mercedes-Benz with their powerful 2.0 liter M133 turbo four-cylinder putting out 354 horses. ...Published on 12-21-2012 02:57 PM
The S65 V8 responds very well to tuning and a quality custom dyno tune can extract quite a bit of power. Eurocharged was able to take an E92 M3 from a baseline of 339 rear wheel horsepower to 375 wheel horsepower with just tuning for a total gain of 36 rear wheel horsepower. This dyno tune done on a Dyno Dynamics in Houston. The Eurocharged name should be familiar from their Mercedes tuning but many likely don't realize they are able to do a custom dyno tune for just about anything. ...Published on 12-20-2012 04:48 PM
Just a little over a week ago the F23 2-Series Convertible was spotted testing and now we get to see the coupe. The F22 coupe and F23 convertible will be the spiritual successors to the 1-Series in the USA. Expect the drivetrain choices to mirror the currently available (in Europe) F20 1-Series with 28i and 35i models featuring turbocharged four and six cylinder direct injected motors. ...Published on 12-19-2012 06:03 PM
Very interesting race here that shows the strength of even a stock DCT M3 from a roll. The 335 is definitely make more power and torque by virtue of its Vishnu Procede tune upgrade as well as a methanol injection. The 335 also had a dual cone intake and it is a 6-speed manual car. Unfortunately only one camera angle is available but it is still easy to see that the M3 holds off the 335 very well from the start of the race until the 335 eventually is able to pull after quite a bit. ...Published on 12-18-2012 11:54 AM
The new N20 four-cylinder 2.0 liter turbocharged and direct injected motor continues to impress. Under the hood of the E84 X1 it propels the lightweight all wheel drive SUV/Crossover to 60 miles per hour in 6.2 seconds and through the 1/4 mile in 14.9@93. Not blazing fast numbers but quicker than several V8 powered crossovers and SUV's. With the light curb weight the X1 offers pretty good performance. Not too long ago V8 X5's were offering similar acceleration before the V8 got turbos. ...Published on 12-17-2012 11:11 AM
BMS (Burger Tuning) is tackling the N63 4.4 liter Twin Turbo V8 platform which is great news for BMW enthusiasts. Up until now the only way to get a tune on these motors was through a flash. The BMS piggyback makes for an easy install and this is a mild tune (and in beta testing form) offering up only a boost of around 2 psi. This is less than the most powerful flash options but on par with the Dinan Stage III tune for far less money. ...Published on 12-15-2012 11:46 AM
After considerable development time and testing Gintani has released their Stage I supercharger kit for 5.0 liter S85 V10 equipped vehicles such as the E60 M5. Stage I delivers 6.5-7.0 psi of boost from a Vortech blower (self-contained oil) good for gains on the Gintani Dyno Dynamics of 165 wheel horsepower over the baselnie. Keep in mind the Dyno Dynamics reads lower than a Dynojet so the peak figure of 530.4 wheel horsepower would likely rise to around ~600 wheel range on a dynojet. ...Published on 12-14-2012 10:50 AM
Congratulations to BMW who continues to rack up engine awards and deservedly so. The new N20 4-cylinder 2.0 liter direct injected turbo motor makes the list for the first time. The BMW N55 (replacement to the N54) single turbo 3.0 liter direct injected and turbocharged six-cylinder makes the list for the second straight year. The Ward's competition differs from the International Engine of the Year award in that only 10 engines are chosen and the price is capped at $55,000 for the cars the engine must appear in. ...Published on 12-13-2012 10:00 AM
Happy Holidays from BimmerBoost.com and all the GermanBoost Network sites. BimmerBoost would like to thank its users for their support and the strong community built here that continues to rapidly expand. It is no secret this is now the main site for technical BMW information as well as high performance modification thanks to the most knowledgeable and experienced userbase in the BMW forum sphere. Quite simply, BimmerBoost has evolved into the top performance/modification community in the BMW world and the rest of the GermanBoost network is following suit. ...Published on 12-12-2012 09:48 PM
COBB is extremely happy to announce the release of the AccessPORT for the N55 powered 2011 BMW 135, 335i and 335xi. We have been cranking extremely hard to get this out – with our best engineers working on making this a terrific product. This is a Beta release – which means that although the support and tuning are 100% complete and, frankly, awesome – we don’t support every single ROM on the road right now. As most of you know (but your friends might not), a ROM is an individual calibration file that makes small tweaks to the Engine Control Unit from the factory. ...Published on 12-12-2012 05:43 PM
Here is the M version of BMW's "four door coupe" the BMW M6 Gran Coupe. The Gran Coupe features the same 560 horsepower S63tu powerplant as the BMW M5 and M6. A dual clutch transmission is standard and a manual may be optional although is not mentioned at this time. Unfortunately the press release does not contain any of the important details such as the curb weight of the car or the price. ...Published on 12-12-2012 12:32 PM
Ok, so here is the new 2-Series which will use the F22 and F23 chassis designations. The new F20 1-Series did not come to the United States being a hatchback, which also means no new 1M, but the 2-Series is set to fill that void. Make sense? Good. So the 2-Series will have a convertible variant and a coupe. The drivetrain will be shared with the the F20 1-Series meaning 28i and 35i models using the N20 and N55 motors. ...Published on 12-11-2012 06:32 AM
BimmerBoost would like to thank member GeorgiaTech335Coupe for his openness and honesty regarding his Vishnu/FFTEC single turbo setup. Recently, this member took his single turbo upgraded 6-speed manual 335i to the PBIR (Palm Beach International Raceway) dragstrip in Florida to do some testing. His best run was a 12.50@121.6 alongside a 12.8@117. Yes, these times are quite a ways away from the 10.8@131 glory pass from Vishnu demonstrating the kits capability. ...Published on 12-11-2012 02:11 AM
Here is a nice set of sphyphotos of the upcoming BMW i8 courtesy of AutoGuide. This newest set shows the closest to production ready version of the i8 thus far. The rear windows show off the trademark BMW Hofmiester kink and the body work itself looks toned down from the concept. The styling will be of course be futuristic but toned down from the concept but the real question will be if they can match the lofty engineering goals of the concept. ...
