About 1 month ago, I added a Nitrous Express kit to my N54 and gained 92 rwhp on a 35 shot (0.031 jet). I was floored with the quality of the NX kit in every aspect. To be honest, they rank up at the top of any product I have ever reviewed in almost every aspect. Their solenoids are so far superior to the competition and their build quality is unsurpassed. They claim to be the next generation of nitrous and they live up to every letter of their word. Well, I wanted to finish off my nitrous system with a couple of accessories and there was no question who I was going to order from. I wanted a remote bottle opener to make things easier and a bottle jacket to aid in the warming of the bottle and to help keep it at ideal pressure.

Today, we will be getting down to the heart of the tranny, the clutch itself. These multi-plate clutch packs are "wet" as in covered in oil to keep them cool in the transmission. These wet clutch packs handle more torque than dry clutch packs.

The S54 and S65 are two off the best motors BMW has ever produced. There is a reason why the BMW Motorsport name is associated with both of of these powerplants. They are the best 6 cylinder and 8 cylinder motors in BMW M production car history in my estimation. The S54 is the last true 6 cylinder to follow the M philosophy and the S65 is the last true 8 cylinder to do the same. We will never see motors like them again from BMW. They are the pure, undiluted, true interpretation of the ideals M once placed above politics. Sadly, economic and political pressure forced BMW M to abandon these types of motors which once were the pride and joy of BMW. Real joy, not the BS marketing campaign.

SSP cracked open the DCT over the weekend and some surprising things were found. First of all, Kris at SSP told me he was a bit surprised as to the quality of the transmission and how well built it is. It is heavy duty as he said and the clutch discs have basically the same pattern but are slightly larger than the GR6 pads.

Okay guys here's the scoop! Oddjob2021 was on the right track in regards to what we spoke about the other day, but I think he got so excitied with the news that he may have mis-understood a couple of things. We are now using a different company to do the machine work process for us, since the current company we were dealing with was just taking way to long and completion dates just kept getting pushed back all the time. This company does work with OE turbo manufacturers and are well equipped and very knowledgable to get the job done to the level of quality we were looking for. They have already started working with the CAD information we have provided and everything seems to be working out with them.

The time has come to announce the details of my transmission build. No one has attempted this before and there unfortunately are no off the shelf parts. Everything will have to be custom made for this application which means the build time will be around 10 weeks from this point. This thread will be updated periodically with pictures and details every step of the way. I will be providing complete documented details through the process.
Why is the transmission being built?
For one, to handle more power and for longevity. It is no secret I have abused my transmission from the moment I got the car. I have done more launches at the drag strip using launch control than... anyone really. These launches are abusive, generate tremendous heat, and shorten the lifespan. Once supercharged, the issue was exacerbated. At a single event in '09 I used launch control 19 times with a burnout each time which generates considerable heat. I have attended 5 such events. Additionally, I have done launches on the street. I would estimate a conservative 70-80 uses of launch control up to this point.
So the transmission is weak?
No, not at all. Actually, it took far more than anyone would have thought. At these drag events, I would also run back to back at times. Keep in mind, I bumped the launch control RPM up as high as it would go, 6200 RPM. These are 6200 RPM launches after a burnout again and again. Anyone that ever removed a single pipe on the intake track of this car has inevitably found oil literally dripping from the pipes. It is really an un-nerving thing to see oil literally caked all over the pipes that lead to your engine. I remember when I was changing my intercooler for the first time, I was very concerned this oil could damage my new investment. I guess there are a couple of questions that immediately came to my mind and the first was... why does this happen on the N54? Well it is obvious the N54 suffers from blow-by pretty bad. Autocar is reporting there will be no M6 and I find that very hard to believe. Why not? Same drivetrain and motor as the M5, seems like a slam dunk to me. With M SUV's these days an M6 is suddenly out of line?

He're is a run you can add. G-powers stage 3 protoype. Stock internals with stage 3 boost. According to them it was a 6sp Manual and they will test the same setup with a DCT next week, thats all the details I have now. I will post more as I get it and edit this post.
