SSP (www.sspperformance.com) has released BMW DCT aftermarket clutch discs. The discs come in two flavors, 600+ hp and 700+ hp capacity. SSP currently has 2 sets of 700 hp discs in stock and 1 set of 600 hp discs.

      Pricing:

      600+ hp discs: ~ $1700
      700+ hp discs: ~ $2000

Advatages are obviously better material, higher hp/torque capacity, and longevity at higher hp levels. Labor is between 6-10 hours depending on your mechanic. They are made out of a Kevlar-Carbon composite.

More sets in stock in 3 weeks as full production begins. ...

BMW unveiled the special edition Frozen Grey M3 today and it was met with collective expressions of "Meh." BMW is only producing 30 units which is 30 units too many in our estimation.

So what does the USA get instead of a CSL and GTS? Well, we get a special matte grey paint job, oooohhhh. Oh, and a unique interior, more form over function to convince ill informed potential buyers that they are getting something special.

Well, what about that motor? The Europeans got a sweet 4.4 liter motor for their special edition M3. What do we get? Well, nothing, same old, same old. It also comes with the same old DCT that was always available. It also comes bundled with the premium package that was already available. It also comes bundled with the competition package that was already available. Uh, what is so special about this thing again?

Oh, you get some special wheels and lowering springs all for $77,620. They even throw in a generous day of BMW performance driving school while laughing all the way to the bank.

The new clutch discs have been completed. SSP will be offering two levels of upgrades, 600 hp and 700 hp, for all BMW DCT transmissions currently on the market. What you see here is the 700 hp setup that will be going in my car. The material is a brand new Kevlar Carbon Composite and that is all I can say about it. This material has been used in some *big* torque applications.

You might be asking yourself, only 700 hp capacity? Well, the rating is extremely conservative as the stock tranny can survive (barely) at that power level. The issue is the longevity. SSP is quoting these things will survive for some time with 700 hp unlike the factory discs. Additionally, we are going test this setup in my car first which will be well over 700 hp and then an even higher capacity setup will be offered but it will utilize more discs similar to what SSP offers for the Nissan GTR. More info and more pics of the transmission to come later this week.

Rumors are running rampant about an even lighter weight and higher performance M3 than the GTS which will be revealed soon.

Some sources state the Paris auto show will be the reveal. Rumors are even that the US might get this vehicle. With the BMW victory at the 24 hours of the Nurburgring it seems BMW wants to celebrate and hopefully this time everyone will be included.

The car will most likely be a street version of the GT2 racecar. What does this mean? Well, we aren't quite sure. The GTS has a 4.4 liter motor and we would expect this rumored model to get that same motor with further tweaks mated to a DCT.

I must say I am not surprised as our BMWs are just pampered with technologies. Anyone ever get a chance to sit inside one of the new 7 series? It makes computers look like a piece of cake to use.

Just the vast amount of technologies available in BMWs from lane collision avoidance, to night vision, to even the new active-hyrbid technologies.

These amenities are just one of the great things about owning a BMW, Kudos to all BMW owners and fans alike!

BimmerBoost is proud to announce it has crossed the 1000 member mark in record time and is now the fastest growing BMW performance forum.

We want to express our thanks to our users and are doing so by giving away $1000. We feel it is more important to build a sense of community by giving back to the members instead of simply dumping money into Google SEO placement like others. We would rather build our base by giving something back to you.

This is just a minor milestone and we understand that. There is a long road ahead and a lot of work to do but so far BimmerBoost has exceeded the expectations of everyone, including us. Thanks to unique content such as the world's only DCT build and N54 single turbo builds BimmerBoost offers BMW performance information that is not available anywhere else and info that is censored from other sites. This site is by the enthusiast and for the enthusiast ultimately and we want to thank every single user who positively contributes here.

The big day is finally here. OE Tuning has announced that finally we have a map switching option for many of the popular German performance vehicles on the market. Many of you know that the S65 for example had to be flash tuned and no tuner on the market had the ability to provide different maps to account for different setups on the fly. That is, no tuner had the ability until today. OE Tuning is the first tuner to have a map switching option for the factory DME E9X M3 among many other models.

So what can EZ flash do? It does not simply provide different maps. Here are the features provided by the product:

      - Tuning
      - Data Logging
      - Map Switching
      - DTC Reading
      - Code Clearing
      - USB connection
      - Remote download and upload of maps
      - No limitation on the number of tune changes as with traditional flash approaches.
      - Easy to use as the name implies
      - Competitive Price
      - The only product of its kind available for the S65

Ok, I get that this is a big deal for factory DME BMW M3's with the S65, what about other models?

Well, this is not just limited to the E9X M3 even though this product will be making huge waves in that respective market. The product already supports the following models:

      BMW:

      MSS60 - S85
      2008 - BMW M3 V8

BMW confirms the M1 name will be not use for the upcoming Motorsport 1 series. In the an interview with M head Dr. Kay Segler, Auto-News.de was able to confirm the model as well as that the head of M believes the "M1" name should remain on the original M1 supercar.

Dr. Kay Segler goes on to mention that the new 1M or 135 M will be seen as a collector car and potentially something that can appreciate. It will have a short lifecycle of about 1 year and will launch in 2011. Horsepower will be around the 350 mark.

Rumor has it Dr. Kay Segler read the bimmerboost article that about there only being one M1 which led him to making the right decision.

This was originally posted by DLSJ5, putting it up for him as it is excellent info:

Dyno Results vs. Performance Data & Real World Results

I'll admit Dyno's don't mean a whole heck of a lot to me in comparison to real world performance results/Vbox data. I know a lot of FI guys here feel the same way I do, we added FI to simply go faster not to compare dyno charts or other car test guesstimates, while they have their use, they are rather boring in comparison to actually driving the car to see where you stand.

However, over the course of the past several months it seems my Gintani Stage 2+ dyno's have created a lot of questions, at times a bit of drama, along with a few questionable antics, lol. Most had fair questions and let's face it the initial #'s were not stellar, but I feel much of what has taken place was unfair, at times immature, improper and just nasty, but as the cliche' goes "Dyno sheets sell products." So a certain crowd made many attempts to attack my dyno's and me personally, while ignoring the performance results I was getting.

I've noticed in the Dyno Database here that the boost levels and the fuel used on Gintani Supercharged dyno's have been arbitrarily changed or added, while other dyno results, which IMHO are far more questionable, are frankly just accepted/overlooked, why? I believe in some cases those other Gintani #'s have been changed in more ways than one, simply because of my less than stellar results and how they compare and it's highly inappropriate.

My initial dyno of 517WHP was not stellar, fair enough, and when I heard the #'s, I was not excited. I expected more especially when you see other vendors had posted dyno's near 600whp at 6-7psi on pump gas! HOWEVER, after I drove the car, did every Vbox test I could, ran a few comparo's I knew the car was performing much better than that 517whp # indicated, and frankly I didn't care anymore about the initial dyno because real world results were more important to me and I was loving the performance results.

      Here's a few reasons why -

      1. The very night I picked up my car, the ...

So as some of u may know and some of u may not know, my car was updated with the first BMW SW version created to keep tuners out of tuning the s65 DME, ISTA/P version 37.2. BMW had been working on this newest software for almost a year. Basically found out what tools and how tuners have been tuning the DMEs thus far and made ways that locked out all the tools and procedures used by tuners. Ofcourse I didnt know this I just wanted the latest software in my car so that my I drive could stop freezing.

So after I updated my complete vehicles sw, including DME, i had my car towed to Gintani. They then told me they could not tune the car, that something kept locking them out when writting my tune back to it. I figured it was nothing big and left my car. A week went by and they were still working on it. Another week went by and I started getting scared because Mfest was around the corner, this is when they figured out what was going on and what BMW had done. Luckily ...

Well, the manifold has been completed. This is one bad ass manifold, half of the manifold was welded when on the car, the other half was welded off the car. Here is the final product. Note, the wastegate design we decided to go with is confidential at this time. Just like the exhaust manifold, we will keep it a secret until it is complete.

Yes, the manifold is true equal length. Yes, the manifold is for a twin scroll GT35r. yes, the manifold looks like an octopus. And yes, this manifold will cause nightmares.

      Here it is:
