      The S85 motor really deserves more love. Projects like this remind us that if BMW wanted to, they could have shoved that V10 in the M3 and abused almost any of their competition. But BMW didn't, so we are thankful for enthusiasts who are willing to step up to the plate. This swap was done using a Pectecl SQ6M ECU and to have the dash fully compatible it was swapped out for a Cosworth Dash. Check out the build pics, details, and videos below.

      Dynotorque in the UK is responsible for this swap. The E92 M3 6 speed is used which is basically the same as the E60 M5 6 speed however remember that was not available in the UK. The front crossmember was scalloped in order for the V10 to fit which it does pretty well along with the transmission. The stock E60 M5 headers are used and surprisingly fit although strong motor mounts were necessary as 5 mm of movement and they would rub. We would like to see what it puts down to the tire with tuning on the Pectel but can't complain, this is a very nice swap.

        Definitely a killer swap. Personally, I would have gone HPF, had money left over and a faster car.

        That wicked cool. Great pictures. That is a build. Manhart Racing will put the S85 V10 in a E92 M3 for you also. You just know that with one drive, they would have to pry me out of that ride. Click here to enlarge

        He is running a Pectel standalone so if he wants turbos, it can be done with the tuning.

        Also, although HPF is faster for less money nothing like an NA V10 in that car, different feeling.

        Manhart charges some insane price.

        Cant even compare the 2. Im an hpf fan, but I6 Turbo Vs. NA V10 Ill take the V10 any day! Amazing build! And hey he still has something called throttle response! Click here to enlarge

        And if he decides to make it a 5.7 liter with some aggressive cams...

        That thing is really bad. Yes Manhart charges crazy money. But that is in a current E92. The sound... one would have to buy a gas station because I would drive it sun up to sun down. The sound... is just vicious. And I hope he got the left rear lights working!

        Not too easy but they pop up every once in a while. I have seen them for $15k.

        We've sold 5 S85/Pectel systems now with great success. They are hands-down the best electronics systems for the S65/85 motors available.

        Neel knows what he is talking about, the Pectel unit is an advanced piece of electronic hardware and seems to be able to control everything as well as accommodate any setup.

        Why this gentlemen did with the dash seems to be the proper way to do it, wouldn't you say? That is, if you want no lights.

        A remanufactured S85 is $26,994 and new one is $39,357 + all ancillaries. And they are no longer in production as you guys already know. So a used one with all the needed items for $15,000 is good. I think there will be more of these builds as guys build cars with the S85 V10 stuffed in them. What can I come up with?
