    • Turbo Garage Ukraine swaps an S62 V8 into an 850 and builds the motor adding a turbo, ~800 hp

This is some pretty impressive work, seriously impressive. Our friend Oleg sent us details on a project they are wrapping up involving an S62 5.0 liter V8 swap into an 850. The fabrication looks fantastic and rivals the best we have seen from US tuners. Frankly, we are a bit surprised we are seeing this kind of quality development which surpasses much of what US tuners have done with the S62. This a built motor with lower compression and a single turbo which is undergoing final tuning but preliminary power goals are 750-800 horsepower. Specs are as follows:

      - S62 8.5 CR Engine
      - GT42R turbo
      - Pair of Precision PW46 wastegates
      - MAF to MAP conversion
      - Remapped stock S62 DME
      - 750 to 800 hp on 15 psi

That's what I was thinking. Also, if they can do this with the stock DME where the hell are the turbos for the S62 from US tuners? How the hell is a shop in Ukraine doing this?

If you can name em, I don't really know of any successful examples.

Hoping the pro-efi tuning solution if applied to the S62 might change that. HPF abandoned their S62 turbo project.

Americans likes superchargers, so in US many supercharged BMW, including S62 )
Because for street s62 about 600hp - enough supercharger.
For american who want more, it is easier to take Vett LS7 and biturbo itClick here to enlarge

BTW, someone tried to make something similarClick here to enlarge:

It isn't that we like superchargers, it is that they are easier to tune and put together hardware wise.

Nothing ever came of that, all they did was take pictures of 2 turbos sitting in an engine bay. I could get that far too.

That is really cool. But when it comes to an E31, I would stick to an late production 1995 E31 850Csi with an Individual color. Get that thing in tip top tune, Dinan chips (yes it has two), new batteries (two of those as well), DK Motors (yep, two more), Redline in anything moves, Full Supersprint exhaust system, Brembo or StopTech Big Brake Kit (Silver Calipers thank you), H&R Trac+ Spacers. And then call it a day with a smoking Amex card!

This is on a whole different level. Swapping in an S62 and doing a single turbo on the factory DME is just... it's badass.
