    • Drag and rolling races between the BMW F87 M2, F82 M4 ZCP, F10 M5 Jahre, and F13 M6 Competition - Carwow figure out WTF trap speeds are

This sure would be a lot more interesting of a race video if the new F90 M5 was included. Instead, we make due with the past generation F10 M5. It also would be a much better video if a DCT F87 M2 was utilized but we get a manual and before the race begins you know it is at a huge disadvantage.

As if it wasn't enough the N55B30T0 engine struggles as is.

On to the drag race which is predictably a disaster as Carwow just isn't good at this. First, there is the commentary that the M2 is in the M4's class simply because the M2 got a better launch. Um, the M4 Competition Package pulled away easily. It's a much faster car.

There is also the problem of only elapsed times being listed. I mean, what will it take for these people to understand the elapsed time is only half of the data from a drag race? Not to mention, the trap speed is what tells is what the potential really is with the launch taken out of the equation. It just goes to show these people suck at what they do.

      Here is the result:

      1. M4 - 12.5
      2. M5 - 12.6
      3. M6 - 12.7
      4. M2 - 13.2

In other words, completely traction dependent and without trap speeds a waste of time.

Keep in mind the F10 M5 is the most powerful car of the group as this is the limited edition tuned to 600 horsepower.

That means from a roll the M5 should be the champ followed by the M6, then the M4, then the M2.

Why is the M2 in third gear at 50 miles per hour? Why are the other cars in automatic modes meaning they have to wait for the gearboxes to drop down a gear? Are these guys morons? Just get in the right gear in all the cars to begin with.

What happens? Well, it goes as predicted. For some reason, they focus on the M2's camera angle mostly. What do you even say? Thanks for a wasted opportunity Carwow and proving you are a low quality option with access to an airtstrip.

That roll race setup was pretty poor. I probably would have selected 3rd gear as well tho with the M2 knowing they make a tremendous amount of mid range torque. 2nd gear would have put him pretty high in the revs where that engine begins to become anemic.

Would have liked to see the M4 in a better gear tho as well to see how it would do against the M5/6.

He selected third I think to prevent a quick shift. If that's the case, change the starting speed. It's not like they have to go at 50.

I hate when people talk about ETs without trap speeds as well. 12.2@100 is very different to 12.2@130 or even 12.5@140.
This video is just a bit of messing about. Rerun the drag race and either the m4, m5 or m6 could win each time.

Not sure how you rate the value for money though. You just choose one because you like it and you can afford it.

They pass it off a serious comparison. It's junk.
