      Dodson is the premier name in DCT (dual clutch transmission) upgrades. They were the only company that was able to deliver a working DCT transmission upgrade for the BimmerBoost.com E92 M3 and their BMW products are simply the best in the business.


      The F10 M5 and F13 M6 DCT transmission will start slipping once you start pushing the S63TU motor. Where the limit is can be debated based on how the car is tuned and utilized. Running it from a stop obviously is more harsh on the driveline than rolling into the throttle.

      This is a transmission from an HCP tuned F10 M5 through the PTF Bootmod3 system with a Pure Turbos Stage 2 S63TU turbo upgrade. The torque increase had the owner seeking out a transmission solution and he went with the Dodson Sportsman's Plus 10 plate upgrade.

      Yes, this upgrade will work for other DCT BMW's as well. They all share the same basic Getrag box.

      So far 10 M5 and F13 M6 DCT boxes with Dodson upgrades are taking whatever owners throw at them and with how much torque these engines generate, that is impressive.

        Lol, still bitter at kris @ SSP?

        Pretty much everyone on the *other* forum runs and recommends ssp. They seem to have a much higher adoption rate, and you can buy the parts and get support direct from the supplier. No need to go through middlemen like dodson.

        Also I'm kinda pissed at dodson because they $#@!ed up on my GTR's gears, and were kind enough to give me 15% off buying replacement ones from them. $#@!s.

        The guy had my transmission for over a year. He said he needed my car to finish. I let him pick up my car. He had everything he needed and simply sent my discs to China and stalled and stalled and stalled. He never delivered a working transmission to me and simply used me to get discs copied.

        The guy is a POS. You know what? I'll just put a whole article on it since you don't know what you're talking about.

        Quickest R8's? Dodson too.

        Quickest 991 Turbos? That would also be Dodson.

        Basically, Kris Gagnon at SSP can not be trusted, is a crook, lied to me, stole from me, has had various lawsuits against him, and in general is just a giant POS. Ignore all that though if you want.

        Dodson for me all day but buy whatever you want to.

        Dodson may have saved the day with a 92 but the DCT swap in my 1 series was almost completely brought to a halt and ruined by Dodson. I try to learn in procedure in total over 35 times with a 13-year BMW Master Tech doing the procedure. We swapped SSP clutches in and it worked the very first time I have had nothing but a positive experience with SSP and nothing but negative with Dodson.

        I'm sorry to hear that but as this was a transmission swap it was a bit more complex.

        I'm glad SSP's clutches work for you. I mean Kris did have my trans for over a year to get them copied correctly. It's just too bad he never got mine working after using me to make money for himself.

        It was a complete nightmare and Dodson saved the day for me...

        Are you kidding me? Have someone hold your car hostage for over a year under the guise of building a trans upgrade only to get discs copied to sell and then drop off a broken trans and say seeya?

        I didn't write the whole article. I will now though.

        This is a thread about Dodson anyway. A reputable vendor we are happy to have.

        I can't wait to run their products in my Porsche as well.

        Someone kept begging for me to help get him a PDK transmission while he had my DCT by the way... will make for a fun story.

        It is crazy that someone trying to make upgrade PDK/DCT clutches doesn't buy a development car to develop with. Its not like these upgrades are cheap either and it would be a business expense. No need to cut corners or weasel your way into a free test car.

        Too many lawsuits at the time. I'll explain everything in a detailed article.

        I guess you can say reputable people have definitely heard of them. Unfortunately in my experience trying to get a refund it took months and the only reason I got a refund is I bought my clutches through Vargas. In the time that I was dealing with this I ran across a laundry list of people who had done but clutches for the 335IS is that were refused refunds after they had the same problems I did learning the clutches in. I wouldn't go near Dodson with a ten-foot pole

        David, not sure why you are going so hard here man. We took care of you no problems. Got you a full refund. Dodson is the superior product in basically every platform, and has had some issues with the BMW stuff I will agree there, but fact remains. We did not get the Dodson clutches to do the final learn in, and guess what. The car holds 750WHP, and almost 800WTQ, shifts perfectly with no issues. I do agree the SSP is easier to install, drop them in and go, but Dodson has no issues holding the power, or shifting well.

        Was gonna say, this E9x M3 (http://www.bimmerboost.com/showthrea...eel-horsepower) is running SSP Spec R clutches, which are rated up to 900 TQ and compatible with "2008-15 M3,135i, 335iS, E90/E92, M4-F80/F82, M5-F10, and M6-F12/F13 with the DCT transmission"

        Tony, I agree you did indeed take care of me, Vargas always has! I didn't mean to bring you into this, my bad man.. I just feel that given the months long trans in and out battle I dealt with that cost me thousands more dollars that I should share my experience. Much the way sticky has shared his feelings/exp with ssp.

        The SSP clutches can work (they didn't for me and several other DCT's by the way) but that doesn't mean Kris Gagnon is a good person or reputable.

        You can produce something that works and be a piece of $#@! human being at the same time.

        Dodson delivers on a variety of platforms and is simply the best in the business when it comes to dual clutch transmissions. The top 10 1/2 mile cars in the world are all running their product I believe. Nobody is running SSP.

        Just playing devil's advocate -- SSP has powered both of the fastest TT-H builds that weren't converted to sequential trans. Heffner and Gosha Turbo Tech

        Dodson does have the quickest TT-H record with UGR

        The quickest MKII R8 is running the Dodson setup as is the 7 second Huracan so you are mistaken.
