    • HPF M3 loses control at the strip

We just received these videos of an HPF turbo M3 which lost control at the Irwindale 1/8 mile strip and ended up going into the wall. The car looks like it is running bias-ply slicks with radial street tires up front. This may have contributed to the driver losing control as the general rule is not to mix due to instability up top. Additionally, once the car starts to sway it looks like the owner stays in it and then tried to brake too late which causes him to lose it. Hopefully we will have more details on the car and the setup soon.

This issue was not one created by the diff. Nor would a different diff save him, he already had an LSD and really an open diff once pretty much works the same way on the strip once it has traction.

The owner probably thinks that since the car needs to be repaired might as well get an upgrade while at it. The car was not setup properly for the strip. Drag tires alone do not make a car set up for the strip, more to it than that.

Hey he tried! You'll never see me at the strip. I could careless about proving $#@! to the few Internet haters. Vbox and runs is as far as I go.

It isn't about proving anything bro, it is just about going out and having a blast in a controlled environment. Once you make a pass you will be hooked!

Guy isn't a hypnotist or a magician of some kind as that is what it would take.

One his major fanboys HPFMTRE actually threatened physical violence over PM's (emotional much?) because I said his car would lose on pump vs. a Gintani SC DCT M3 on stock internals like mine. He and all the fanboys started insulting me instead of actually debating the topic. Later, his overconfidence got to him and he raced an SC DCT M3 on pump and lost... when I called him on it, I was put in timeout. Kids like him with the HPF kits (I assume this forcefed fellow is another early 20's child?) are part of the problem as that is the fanatics demographic. They are just brats who want to proclaim they have the best due to insecurity.

Note, that is only a small fraction of the HPF owners as we seem to have gathered all the ones who are true enthusiasts and left the kids to their playground. This is working out quite well.

Exactly, if this happened at the strip imagine what would happen if he tried this out on the public streets?

1/4 mile passes are a lot of fun and tell you a lot about your car (and yourself).

I hear you, Vbox runs are safer/easier anyway.

The strip is challenging though and a lot of fun. The most important thing is to enjoy your car however you want to, but part of that for me is proving internet haters wrong Click here to enlarge

Skinnies are the proper name Click here to enlarge

Yes, bias-ply skinnies are what you want as they give you better stability so you don't hit the wall...

No worries, it's your car, enjoy it however you want.

Some people talk down on those who drag race BMW's and go on about the whole roadcourse nonsense. Everyone has their own thing.

You'll see lots of vbox and runs from me come spring/summer.
Kinda ran out of money. I still need some stuff for the spring. I'll probably still
be ony 19s bridgestone re11 till I can afford some 18in ccw c2k. I'd like to try and fit 40 series tire. Little bit taller tire might help but I'm sure that will be a pain.

what does that have to do with b/s insurgents comments in this thread?

I have run the M3 on street tires plenty of times. I basically walk it off of the line and just enjoy the rush of the back half. Times are nothing too impressive, 11.2 @136 was best run but it has been fun as hell. Anyone with any knowledge knows that there is more to a 10 second run then just power, so don't stress the doubters. I will hopefully have a 10 second slip by the end of next week in my e55 and it makes 150hp less and weighs like 800lbs more.

I completely forgot about your E55. I can't tell you how great it is to have you here as I could really use your help with getting the E55 info flowing on benzboost. A 10 second slip certainly would do that...

Do you have your 11.2@136 slip? I probably already asked a while back.
