We like the redesign of the Beetle. VW made it more aggressive and more masculine leading it to not be so much as a "chick" car as it was portrayed previously. We do not mean to sound sexist, but the damn thing did come with a flower vase. VW takes the Bettle design further here with the Bugster which is even more aggressive and sleek. A bold claim indeed, eh? The VW Group says it will be the biggest automaker in the world by 2018 according to this interesting Car and Driver article. That would mean supplanting Toyota and General Motors. Why is that a big deal? Well, due to the premium brands in the VW arsenal that are not exactly big sellers. We are talking Audi, Porsche, Bugatti, Bentley, and Lamborghini. A real World Rally Challenge Polo rally car would run hundreds of thousands of dollars. A real Volkswagen Polo street car is relatively affordable. So, what is one to do if they want a WRC Polo R? Well, build your of own course. That is what Polish enthusiast Paul Dytko (of Dytko Sport) did with his VW Polo. His car produces 400 horsepower which is 100 more than the official vehicle. It also looks remarkably like the real deal. Dytko is currently seeking sponsorship money to build a tube frame chassis and enter his vehicle in the Pikes Peak hill climb. This was an awesome video, strong little GTI! Rob Beck turbo upgraded 335's are no joke being able to trap in the ~125+ range. The GTI has a low compression built motor with a Precision Turbo HP5557E-B pushing about 27 psi of boost. In addition to the forged internals the heads and valvetrain were addressed with larger valves, stronger valve springs, and ported/polished heads. Schmidt Revolution is an aftermarket wheel specialist based out of Germany. They decided to use the MKV Golf to show off their wheels against a black car. The result is actually pretty nice and definitely different. The car features the Schmidt Revolution 19 inch Gotham wheels with 19x8.5 in front and 19x9 out in back. Here are some MKVI Golf results from OE Tuning. It also is nice to see OE Tuning has the ability to tackle a very wide variety of platforms. The stock MKVI Golf has 208 horsepower at the crank and on the OE Tuning Dyno Dynamics puts down a peak of 166.5 horsepower to the front wheels. The Golf VI is a great looking car. A little added aggression does not hurt especially for those that do not have a Golf R and Rieger has you covered. This is their new front bumper which includes air intake and a splitter. The pictured LED's are optional and it seems that everyone is putting LED's on everything these days. An optional carbon splitter is available as well, no pricing information yet. We like seeing diesels get modification attention. AWE Tuning released their exhaust at a very reasonable $359.96. It is available with two different 90mm slash cut tips in silver and black diamond ($404.96). The exhaust offers weight savings of 7.5 pounds over the stock exhaust and features T304 stainless tubing. Revozport makes a lot of great carbon fiber products. They recently released an intake made out of carbon fiber for the MKVI GTI. The carbon work looks great and it is priced at $280. The only objection we have is the are marketing this without any performance gains or dyno numbers. Volkswagen unveiled this concept at the Tokyo Auto Show. This was designed by Walter de Silva or R8 and A5 fame. So what is exciting about this other than the styling? This is a hybrid crossover. Ok, actually, that isn't all that exciting. There are three motors powering the car. A turbocharged 148 horsepower motor powers the front wheels along with a 54 horsepower electric motor. Powering the rear wheels is 114 horsepower electric motor. So, this is set with a front wheel bias. The current MKVI Golf does not look dated to us but Volkswagen is preparing its successor. It is reported that the car may be available as early as the end of next year which will make it a 2013 mode. The main change other than the looks of course will be the new 1.8 liter turbo four cylinder which will become the entry level motor. $19 billion is a lot of dough. It seems Volkswagen thinks it is worth putting this much money in China and intends to do so in between 2012 and 2016. The automaker expects the Chinese market to grow significantly even though it has cooled as of late. VW will launch 50 additional models in China by 2015. This is the new 2012 Passat Alltrack. Basically, it's a Passat wagon. The US market is not too fond of wagons so we understand Volkswagen's apprehension about bringing it here. The press release for the vehicle mentions 4 motor options in the UK and conveniently omits the USA which does not bode well for our chances. We really like what APR does. Their performance options for VW and Audi vehicles are well tuned and reliable. Lately they have been stepping it up taking the 2.0 TSI motor in VW's to 470 wheel horsepower on 100 octane. On 93 octane they hit a very respectable 423.8 wheel horsepower. The Stage III+ setup is available for sale and is a $2,999 upgrade from the Stage III. These are some very impressive results. The 2.5 liter naturally aspirated inline-5 was not all too popular and with pressure on improved MPG and emissions a smaller turbo 4 will be taking over. This engine has nothing in common with the old 1.8T other than the displacement and is a derivative of the current 2.0TSI motor. The motor puts out 158 horsepower and 185 pound-feet of torque. Suzuki is officially terminating its partnership with Volkswagen and seeking a return of its shares in arbitration. Suzuki got a bit upset when Volkswagen stated in a report that it could significantly influence financial and operating decisions at Suzuki. Why Suzuki is upset over the truth we have no idea. Suzuki now states it was not given full access to VW technology that is expected. Suzki CEO and chairman Osamu Suzuki stated, “Today, Suzuki terminated the partnership with VW. Suzuki will be seeking the return of its shares from VW in arbitration. Here is our coverage of Volkswagen from the 2011 LA Auto Show. There really was not anything all too exciting from VW. They had plenty of models to show off though and also brought the very cool looking Bettle R concept that we hope somehow makes it to production. They were also showing off a hybrid Touareg that had the first supercharged hybrid powertrain in the world. If you don't like this, you are on the wrong the site. Talk about a sleeper. This MKII Golf built by Boba Motoring runs the 1/4 mile in 9.3 seconds at 159 miles per hour. It uses a 1.8 liter diesel block with 16V heads and a Garrett GTX4202R. The fuel system runs E85. This is a 6 speed manual car with a 4 Motion all wheel drive system. Oh, and the engine also revs to an incredible 9500 rpm. Vehicles like this are the reason VWBoost or any of the sites on the network exist, simply awesome.

Volkswagen decided to freshen up the CC for 2013. The car gets new front and rear styling for the 2013 model year which is not a huge departure but looks fresh. This would be a mid-life refresh as the current CC went on sale four years ago. Pricing starts at $29,335. The vehicle will be available for sale in Spring of 2012. We will bring you more photos of it as it will be revealed during the 2011 Los Angeles International Auto Show.

Everyone knows GM (General Motors) was the biggest automaker for decades. The mighty fell (and needed loans, from taxpayers) as Toyota passed them by. Volkswagen is currently up 13% on its 2010 global sales and 8.1 million is the estimate for its 2011 sales. In second place is General Motors with an estimate of 7.55 dropping off after having led the first half of 2011 which is fairly impressive in a down economy. Toyota is down about 9% at this point and likely to end up in third place falling behind GM and VW. Impressive work by the VW group.
