Volkswagen revealed their new Beetle GSR at the Chicago Auto Show and the sportiest Beetle yet boasts some nice upgrades. It takes inspiration from the classic 70's Beetle. The 2014 Beetle GSR gets a very mild boost to its EA888 2.0 liter direct injected turbo motor which gets a bump to 210 horsepower up from 200. Only 10 more horses? Minor bump but at least they gave it more than just cosmetic pieces as they do in the R-Line. ...Published on 02-06-2013 08:10 PM
Very good news here for Golf Diesel fans. You may remember a VWBoost article last month on the MKVI Golf GTD which unfortunately is for European customers only. Well, with the new MKVII Golf it seems the USA will not be skipped over when it comes to a hotter diesel Golf. Additionally, the car is to get more power with 180 horses (up from 168) and 280 pound-feet of torque (up from 258 pound-feet of torque). ...Published on 02-05-2013 07:10 PM
There was a time when the idea of a Porsche SUV was met with snorts of derision as if it was beneath the company somehow. That discussion and debate is long over and luxury sport utilities are not only here to stay but often the best selling models a brand has to offer. So Bentley wants to get in on the luxury sport utility mix and the Volkswagen board has finished debating the issue. The Bentley SUV has the green light, it's coming. ...Published on 01-30-2013 10:10 PM
This is the world's fastest Golf which has gone 8.6@165 in the 1/4 mile. Yes, insanely fast thanks to a low curb weight (2500 pound range) and all wheel drive to help put the 900+ horses to the ground. The relatively small 1.8 liter sixteen valve motor gets 3.9 BAR of boost from its turbocharger. In PSI that would be an insane 56 pounds per square inch. 0 to 270 kilometers per hour (167.7 miles per hour) which it hits in the span of the 1/4 mile takes just 8.7 seconds. ...Published on 01-29-2013 12:41 PM
Volkswagen's commercials for the superbowl have been pretty memorable. This one, well, not so much. It gives off the vibe of a Red Stripe ad and essentially uses Jamaican style accents for comedic effect to denote the effect of driving a VW makes one 'get happy.' It's decent certainly but when going up against past commercials like the famous VW Force commercial or the Dog imitates Golf (view these below). ...Published on 01-29-2013 12:30 AM
Here is Volkswagen's official teaser for the new MKVII Golf R. Not much to see here, right? Volkswagen chose to set up a teaser page for the car which looks as if it is enclosed in a giant block of ice. The official page is here for whomever would like to take a look: http://www.volkswagen-r.de/#!home (it's in German). The countdown clock appears to point to about 13 days and 18 hours from today at which point the "beast" will be unfrozen. ...Published on 01-23-2013 06:02 PM
Volkswagen's World Rally Championship hopes are off to a good start with a second place finish at the Monte Carlo Rally. The Polo R had a successful debut and appears to be a strong challenger. The 17 months of testing and development as well as the rather large monetary investment certainly are paying off. French automobile maker Citroën was able to get the victory over VW however at Monte Carlo with Sebastian Loeb driving. ...Published on 01-22-2013 09:52 PM
Some nice runs here from VWBoost member zhijjawi10. He has a 2010 Volkswagen MKVI GTI 2.0T with a Borg Warner EFR-7163 turbo upgrade, meth injection, and upgraded injectors. The first 335i he runs into (silver) has a front mount intercooler, downpipes, a JB4, and was running an E85 mix. The 335i pulls on the GTI although the Volkswagen was having some traction issues. Regardless, the first 335i was the faster car. ...Published on 01-22-2013 12:20 AM
Volkswagen is playing some hardball. For those unfamiliar, the AMG motors you have loved in the past couple generations of AMG models have had the commonality of high performance engine engineer Friedrich Eichler involved in development. He has helped develop the M156 6.2 liter naturally aspirated AMG V8, the M157 5.5 liter twin turbo V8, the Pagani Huayra twin turbo V12, and most recently the amazing M133 354 horsepower M133 2.0 liter turbo four-cylinder with 26 psi of boost stock. ...Published on 01-17-2013 12:20 AM
Ok, you may be asking yourself, what is the Golf GTD? Well, it's a diesel Golf, you probably have that part down. But it's a higher performance version than the TDI. It's basically a GTI and a TDI combined. The result is a 168 horsepower 2.0 liter turbocharged four-cylinder diesel with 258 pound-feet of torque. And all that torque is available from 1750 RPM. Sounds great right? Yep, except that this car is not sold in the United States. ...Published on 01-14-2013 08:22 PM

Volkswagen will officially reveal their seven passenger sport utility at the Detroit Auto Show this month. Rumors are that it will be priced very competitively and possibly even less than Touareg. It will not have the same off-roading ability. Here is a dyno comparison at the crank from the MKVI Golf R one of which is equipped with the APR Stage II+ kit which utilizes the stock K04 turbo and the Stage III kit which utilizes a Garret GTX series turbo. The Stage III offers more power but what the spool is what is impressive as there is much more top end without a big sacrifice in lag. The new Beetle is a good looking car and a reasonable value with its as tested price of $28,385. Very cool video here from a very happy owner of an APR Stage III Golf R. Said owner decided to use a VBOX to measure his 0-60, 0-130, and 60-130 acceleration numbers. Some very good driving from the owner as well who launches and shifts well. The car pulls pretty hard as expected for a car capable of high 11's in the 1/4 mile. 0-60 comes in 3.8 seconds, 0-100 in 8.4 seconds, and 60-130 is measured at 9.3 seconds. ...Published on 12-23-2012 04:17 PM

Earlier this month VWBoost reported that Volkswagen killed off the Routan. It would appear the Routan's death was greatly exagerrated and that although Volkswagen does plan to end the model it will be produced for 2013 and still built by Chrysler in Canada with no changes for 2013. When it was revealed VW stopped production everyone just assumed they came to their senses and killed the model off. ...Published on 12-21-2012 04:06 PM
With the Eos getting the axe it is only natural for the Golf Cabrio to fill the void. And the Golf R model does exactly that in great style. The Golf R convertible was revealed early in a video before its official debut at the Geneva auto show and the car looks great. Similar body work to the hatchback Golf R except a much sleeker look losing the high roof from the hatch. With a dual clutch transmission, all wheel drive, and a turbo motor this car will be a hit. ...
