    • Horsepower Freaks (HPF) Stage 4 E46 M3 S54 turbo puts down 925 whp

First of, congratulations. Closing in on 1k hp at the wheels with an HPF Stage 4 setup is no small feat. Horsepowerfreaks has been advertising this as 970 whp which is what the car did put down uncorrected. The SAE corrected numbers are 925 whp and what we will go with. This car belongs to someone named Jason and it is a very, very impressive car.

      Uncorrected:

Very true. I think what he is saying though is he will sacrifice power for reliability, not that he expects factory reliability.

I can shift pretty quickly 1-2-3-4 on the street, it grabs 1st and 2nd hard (you have to be quick however). And now that I have 2 step, anti lag enabled it would get off the lie hard. Regardless I would love to run your car if it were possible. Remember the E36's with the same 76mm turbo making less HP have ran low 9's at 154mph... Not to mention even laggier 2JZ supra's running impressive 1/4 times...
        .
Ive seen Chris's down at the local spot we go and race.... this was a few years ago when it was still a street car and still white... i was there the day he raced the R35 and lost his hood lol, and there a few other times he raced... Yes the car was fast, damn think pulled 0.7 G's @100mph !!!! it could have been chris's shifting but you could tell in between shifts the damn thing looked like it went all the way to vacuum and had to re-spool....

Trust me i know the whole supra crowd, they have lag yes, but they have the RPM to deal with it.. my friends 6 speed supra runs 9.30's@152 on a BW 88mm turbo, his brother's supra which is pretty much an all out drag car runs 8.60's@167 with a 78mm/TH400....

My whole argument was it could use more RPM...

Im afraid my car would't be a match for you, i calculated that any M3 making over 870whp would trap higher than my car will this year... i will be making 650 and weigh 2550, it should go mid to high 140's trap... Now and HPF stage 3 would be around that power level Click here to enlarge

Correct. Even if that means i'm only decreasing my odds of a problem by the slimmest of margins.. I'll still invest in it for the sake of reliability. Which is why I'm doing the DSS/Giken setup with my 2.5 even though the likely hood of me ever tracking the car is slim to none... maybe a HPDE on occasion but very unlikely I'll ever drag it.

I do not expect this car to be maintenance free by any means, nor do I expect it to be reliable as in oem.. but thats not to say that you can't take precations that might increase the reliability even if its so marginal its almost pointless.

You are very fond of your car with how highly you speak of it. Don't bite off more than you can chew though.

2550/650 =3.92 lb/hp which is pretty insane. compared to 3400/870=3.91

not to shabby i must say but i dont think he really needs to bite his tongue if he really has what he's saying..

        Likewise...

Here is my car back in the day when I would run less boost (27psi max).

Please tell me where boost needs to build up after each shift?

Not biting off more than i can chew, just being honest.. i made 524whp last year and went 137, if i make a solid 650whp and still weigh 2550, it should trap mid to high 140's...thats power to weight to ya.... Im not pulling the numbers out of my ass, ive raced enough to know what it takes to do what.. My only down fall is Traction, i was able to find a road last year that hooked 500+ in 3rd gear on my little 205's so i think i can hook 600 in 4th.. but to be able to put all the power down i will need some big DR's which i plan on getting...

TRUST me, i will be doing some races with a Few HPF cars... there is a local orange stage 3 that i would really like to race Click here to enlarge...

Also, for those that doubt the car... here is me racing an R1 last year on a pretty warm day... the R1 is geared 2up/1 down, has full exhaust and a power commander and a 150-160lb rider... we did a 60mph roll and a 90mph roll.. due to a $#@!ty road and FWD he gets me by 2 cars from a 60... its alot closer from 90 tho... Races are at 3:00 and 8:15 just skip the rest... i kept up with him decently not saying i won by any means...
