    • Aulitzky Tuning swaps the BMW M4 S55 engine into an F87 M2 fixing BMW's mistake

      The F87 M2 is arguably the best chassis in the BMW M lineup for those who put an emphasis on driving. The problem? The N55B30T0 motor is a letdown. The engine does not know what it wants to be. It's part N55 and part S55 yet this results in something that certainly is not M.


      The S55 engine from the F80 M3 and F82 M4 is simply a better powerplant. We all know why BMW would not give the M2 the S55 engine because M3 and M4 owners have very fragile egos. This is simply a natural law of the universe.

      The N55B30T0 has a weak top end pull which is the very antithesis of what an M motor should be. It can not even top the B58 engine in said top end pull. What was BMW thinking? Oh, about those fragile M3/M4 egos.

      While the F87 M2 is priced well and offers great driving dynamics it just is missing that M heart. Aulitzky Tuning fixed that problem and made the M2 what it should be.

      They claim the engine has 620 horsepower and they almost back it up with full dynographs:


      No reason to doubt the claim as the S55 can easily make the power. For a little bit at least.

      The point here ultimately being M cars should have proper M motors. This is a great swap.

        The electronics shouldn't be as complicated as an S55 swap would be into another generation of car.

        Not saying it's easy, just saying it's easier to do with another modern turbo BMW like the M2 as you can probably swap the M3/M4 electronics.

        ^Rumors have been floating around for a while of an M2 GTS/CSL/whatever with a detuned S55. If that's the case...this will be one of the best cars ever made, hands down.
