    • DCT Build Part VIII - Putting it back together

As of right now, the transmission is completed and the cooling system is in the process of being completed. Where we left off was the car being taken to SSP for the build of the cooling system. To make this all make sense we will not skip ahead, instead showing you each step. Here SSP is getting ready to put it together with the new clutch discs. They laid out all the parts and used 3d scanning equipment to record them to aid in the production of the parts. Everything was laid out to make sure the parts were clean and accounted for. Additionally, they were working on prototype viton seals for the transmission. The next update will have details on the cooling system.

Spoke with Kris guys. Transmission is all together just needs to get fluid and be tested.

Will be shipped back in the next week or later if he decides to drive it down himself. Either way, car will be back this month and we will have the shipping details worked out in the next few days.

He should be sending pics soon.

Huh, after all this technical info i never asked the simplest question: What's the torque limitation of the new unit?

We aren't quite sure but these discs have been tested in other applications up to around 800.

If I manage to wear them out (I'll try) they are going to put in the new 1000+ capable discs they developed for the GTR.

Not yet, I don't know. I have an opportunity to do a prior design widebody kit on my SL and the money could go there. I have to think.

        Sticky,

SL already has sexy lines, I would not change the lines of SL.

Have you pondered about buying a crank of GTS off BMW AG directly and paying less?

GTS has 4.4 L engine so you may check thatClick here to enlarge

I do not think it is possible to just get the GTS crank although that would be awesome. Haven't seen anyone in the US get that part yet.

Might as well just buy the flat-plane/stroker crank straight off the race car!

You might have to change tune/firing order. Click here to enlarge

Sticky I don't know how you can be with out your car for so long. I traded cars with my pops for the weekend and finally got it back today. I felt like I was having withdrawals. I don't like not using my left foot while driving so the Tiptronic Transmission started to boor me and I found myself longing for my 6spd back. Whats the ETA on your whip now?
