    • Here are hi-res pictures of the BMW F80 M3 and F82 M4 S55 engine out of the car

It is always nice to get good shots of a motor that show off the pulleys, accessories, intercooler, etc. The S55 engine from the F80 M3 and F82 M4 has been with us for some time now and we will likely see more of these getting pulled and built over the years especially as cars come off the warranty period.

The main question of course with the S55 motor is the crank hub and ways to address it spinning as power is added. There is no definitive solution yet that BimmerBoost is aware of.

      Enjoy the pics.

working on that motor has got to be horrendous! Can you imagine how much nonsense you must have to go through just to clean the intake valves!?! LOL

Is there a need to clean the intake valves on this motor?
All modern engines are pretty compact in their design.
I think the watercooled IC on top is a very nice setup.

As it's direct injected you're going to get some carbon buildup.

Yeah, the water injection is only active above 5K rpm with high demand throttle input.

What do you mean water injection only above 5k rpm?

The S55 has water injection...you know this. He's referring to it having a very low probability of cleaning the valves due to when it's active.
