    • This is the 2018 BMW F97 X3 M testing on the 'Ring - What engine will it have? S55TU?

The rumor is that the upcoming X3 M will have a 500+ horsepower variant of the S55 engine from the F80 M3 and F82 M4. BMW will need to resolve the crank hub issues if that is the case. They better.

If the X3 M is going to go up against the Macan Turbo which is showing strong performance stock and tuned as well as the upcoming GLC63 AMG with its twin turbo V8 the motor will need to be stout.

The S55 is more than capable of making the power necessary which we all know. It is a matter of whether it will be able to do so reliably and sustain aftermarket tuning.

In the video you can see the vehicle is cornering fairly flat for an SUV and doing well in the corners. BMW sure looks to be pushing it hard and if there is any area today where they are still performance leaders it is in SUV performance.

The X3 M is shaping up to be an exciting entry in the performance SUV sector.

Who cares...with the GLC63 getting the twin turbo V8.

Why would you want an suv with a 6-banger that sounds like sh*t.

Well... it may be more nimble.

I'd prefer the twin turbo V8 as I want my SUV to be able to tow.

it really sounds good!! although the GLC63 will be equipped with a TTV8 but i think the x3 M will perform better specially in terms of handling and will have a better weight distribution.

Its been hard to match the driving characteristics of the BMW suv's. They drive incredibly good. That being said, i haven't been in a Macan but would love to check one out.

That is sort of what I'm thinking. The X3M will be more M3 and the GLC63 will be more C63. It makes sense to me.
