    • BMW E82 1 Series M Coupe weighs in at 3,351 pounds with a full tank of gas

The guys at Axis of Oversteer weighed a 1M Coupe with a full tank of gas. The result? 3,351 pounds. This is pretty impressive and lighter than an E92 M3 by about 200 pounds. BMW USA lists the curb weight for the 2011 135i at 3373 so the 1M undercuts it slightly. It is nice to see the parts off the M3 did not come with considerable weight gain.

Does this thing get RFT tires and how heavy are the rims? I saved nearly 50lbs by swapping the wheel/tire setup to a lightweight rim/non-RFT combo.

FWIW my FBO 135i weighed in at 3380lbs w/ a full tank of gas, not including me. Considering the amount of stuff I had to change to achieve this weight (exhaust, wheel/tire, DP's, rear control arms etc.) the 1Ms starting weight isn't too bad, lots than can be done to drop it.

IIRC the 1M also shares the hood and trunk with the 135i, stock weights on those are 44lbs and 33lbs, respectively. Going to a iCarbon doublesided CF hood and trunk would yield -51.3lbs total, the iCarbon pieces are 16lbs Hood/ 9.7lbs Trunk. Removing the hood and trunk shocks would yield another few lbs but this might not make as much sense for a street car.

Stock nonpower seats are 54lbs each! Going to something like a Recaro pole position setup could garner another -40lbs PER seat. Swapping out the stock battery could also be a big savings.

I'm more interested in how this weight is carried on the car; the lack of a sunroof removes a good bit of weight up top and hopefully lowers the CG a decent.

Granted, compared to a corvette it'll still be behind, but for someone like me the pwr/weight ratio isn't the only thing considered (though it's high on the list Click here to enlarge) I may end up dailying one and 1M makes more sense due to its usable back seat and larger trunk space.

I seriously doubt it will have run flat tires. It will be getting the M3 forged rims looks like it.

Yea that's what I figured, hopefully it'll get the same or at least similar tires as what the M3 has.

I do not see why it wouldn't, expect a Michelin PS3.
