• HPF Stage 3 E46 M3 vs. 2007 R1

Here we have a roll on race video between a 2007 Yamaha R1 and a HPF Stage 3 turbo E46 M3. The runs are not honked off so there is not really a definitive start point but both just sort of roll into it for an extended pull on what appears to be an empty road. The two machines are quite evenly matched with what appears to be the M3 inching ahead up top.

Ya, not the best but still nice to see. With a more aggressive rider who knows.

I know who the rider is.. IIRC the bike is STOCK with a Power commander Stock exhaust and dude is around 200lbs

$#@!ty race imo.. BMW Bairly pulls lol.. we are talking inches... God they talk about it on E46 like he destroyed it...

Best race i had was with an 09 R1 that went 9.98@142, from 90-160 we were DEAD Even, same road this video was taken on... Your average R1 traps mid to high 130's...

Cant wait till my car is done so i can race the M3's Click here to enlarge

You are quite right on all counts. Remember, E46 is HPF fanboy central.

M3 was running on pump gas and clearly pulled in both of the runs. Anyone who says otherwise is an anti-hpf fanboy. Gringotegra, if you beat an hpf car by that margin you would be running your mouth all over the forums telling people how you pulled on it, and you know it. Since when does having a pc equal stock? Anti-hpf fanboys are no better than the hpf fanboys over at e46 fanatics, just different perspective. Seems like you guys just can't handle hpf having success against a lightly modded liter bike.

Why are you grouping us all together and since when would we be against HPF success?

I'm not grouping anyone together, my collective pronoun use was habitual/unintentional. It's easy can tell by the tone of gringo's post that he has a bone to pick with hpf. It's really not rocket science. The thing is Sticky, even though you're kind of a dick over forums sometimes I really like that you took to creating your own forums of discussion with the intent of making them unbiased and all-inclusive, information wise. A great soulfull move, right up my alley Click here to enlarge. It's just sad to see it start to get polluted with a lot of the same fanboyism that brings other forums' quallity down, and pervades pretty much all auto enthusiasts.

I appreciate the comments on the forum and glad you enjoy it. Yes, some people think I'm a bit of a dick but I think over forums many people get the wrong idea. I try my best to treat the members here well but sure, sometimes some of things I write people interpret as me being a dick. If you stick around, you may change your opinion.

However, why do you think I have a bone to pick with HPF? I put this up on the front page and give them plenty of exposure without them being a sponsor. I have interviewed Kris and did so because I consider HPF a top option for the S54. I just don't understand where your idea is coming from that I in particular have a "bone to pick" with HPF when overall I'm pretty positive in reporting what HPF is up to.

i wouldn't really call that a WIN.. I would call that pretty even with the m3 slightly pulling.. we are talking pulling inches lol.. They went from what looked like a 60-70mph roll.. they need to go from a 40 and then a 90 so you have the strengths and weaknesses of both the bike and the car..id be willing to bet the bike would get it from 40 and the car would win from a 90.. Aerodynamics come into play for bikes at higher speeds..... Ive raced that same bike and 2 other higher modded R1's... a PC on a Stock bike wont do $#@!... 1-2whp maybe if you are lucky lol....lightly modded to me = Full exhaust, intake and a PC... Like i said a bone stock R1 will trap 135-137 depending on the rider... modded ones get in the 137-139 range and if you have a stretched R1 with the same mods you will trap in the 140's.. the main problem is keeping the front tire down.. My friends Zx-10 trapped 139 and he couldnt keep the front tire down first half.. He raced a 144 trap ZX-14 and beat him by a bike or so from a 60 roll...

I am an HPF owner hater lol..the people who own the kits on cars think they are the $#@! and talk like there is nothing better out there... I am not a HPF hater at all The kit is great.. makes power and does well.. a bit over priced imo but i know there was a TON of R&D to go into that project....People don't realize how much it cost to have prototypes made, stuff engineered put into production and what not.. That is not cheap.. That's why the kits are priced how they are.. Not to mention there are 120128301283 parts to an HPF kit lol....

Saying the car inched ahead up top is not picking a bone, it is stating what happened. We can't possible shy away from stating the truth just because it may not be super extremely positive about HPF all the time. We are not going to condition our member base to being afraid to critique.

I dont follow the e46 scene at all, but from what ive seen and watched HPF makes some incredible kits and have great engine builds. They seem to have great customer service, will document stuff for you, watched their vids of engine builds etc...they offer 4 stages of kits and tailor each kit for different gas. They have proved reliable and any problems that have risen they have dealt with immediately and in a professional manner.

So why dont people like them? I know there is or was a HPF vs VF war. Although I never understood "fanboism" why cant you like many tuners. Over in the porsche world it seems much more civil. They do have their battles but I see companies that make the same products support each other and only say good. Wish that happened more often

The BMW forced induction group is an odd cookie. To begin with, it is very splintered and it is a younger group which produces some heated confrontations.

O I don't. I wish HPF made a e36 m3 turbo kit. I would be all over it. They have mastered the s54

Exactly, the customers do not represent HPF. Judge them based on their product.
