    • Pictures of the state M5junky's E60 M5 was in when removed from ASR Engineering for failure to complete custom twin turbo setup

Steve (M5junky) sent us these pictures with permission to post them. These pictures reveal the state his E60 M5 was in after having spent about 2 years at ASR Engineering. The car was sent there for a twin turbo built motor setup as most of you know and nothing was done. Well, nothing other than stripping the car the car down and leaving it a huge mess. The transmission was pulled and looks to be left stock. The motor was pulled and not built as agreed. The engine bay, well, you can see for yourself.

There is much more to all of this and the legal wheels are turning. We do not want to get in the way or step on anyone's toes so we will simply let this play out. What people should be aware of is that tens of thousands were spent by M5junky and M5Ranger to receive their twin turbo setups on the E60 M5 only to be jerked around with nothing being completed and the money being pocketed. No refund has been issued as of this point and we will follow progress on the story as it develops.

Ugh, that poor car. Guy could have at least had the decency to put it back to how it was.

It would seem both cars were like this, in pieces, nothing done. It's just sad.

Well, as you can see Sticky was able to post my pics of the car up here in the local shop that I dropped it off at. You know I am probably one of the calmest and patient people you will ever meet. Am I upset? Yes, to say the least. This saga began 2 years ago. I originally was a big M5Boarder freak. I posted a lot on that board. So I happened across the ASR web site through others who had been there. Hey this guy was making BIG power with the NOS set up, so what did I do? I shipped the car there to get it put on. At the time I shipped it down ASR was just coming out with the cold air intake, so it took a couple extra weeks, so I didn't mind. I had the CAI installed. I flew down with my boys and rented a truck and trailer and hauled her back.… WOW this thing had some serious power. I was out kicking some major tail with it - I still remember the night I hammered a modded Z06!!! So I continue along and after about a month roughly I'm out and I hit the NOS in the express lanes (late at night), THUMP!! from the engine compartment. Engine light goes on. So I pull off the road, wait a few turn the engine back on - no light - I'm good.. Then the following week it happens again.. Anyway, so I am on the M5Board and a guy from Dallas is talking trash. So what does an M5 junky do with 700HP? I load the car up on the trailer, and trailer it down to Dallas - I'm going down to go up against the stroker from Dinan! I was so pumped and excited I drove through the night to get there. I get to Dallas (from St Louis), and unload the beast. That next evening I am messing around on the HWY with the other guys M5. I pull out of a toll booth and THUMP!!! my car is smoking a black thick smoke! I am completely devastated to say the least. I get the car on the shoulder of the road. I open the car door, and I see a trail of oil from my car to the toll plaza and a LAKE of oil under my car. FK!!!! We have it towed to the local dealer. Anyway I call ASR the next day. Believe me - what an embarrassment that was. I spoke with him and he told me to send it back, he was doing a TT setup on Rangers car and he would give me a deal.. So I called the car carrier and had it picked up in Dallas and shipped back to Miami. I ship back with an engine with a blown rod/cracked block. I found an engine on Ebay for $9,999.00 through a place in St Petersburg FL. It beat the 20,000 through BMW for a block and pistons. So I call ASR and tell him about the engine in St Pete’s FL. I said it’s an entire engine for basically 10K. ASR says he worked with the place there and he knew them.. So I send him the money and he says he will get the motor for me. I send him 10K and I believe all is well. I call him in a week’s time roughly and he says yes I ordered it and it should be there soon. Cool no problem. BUT about a month or 2 later he calls me and says he can save me a grand on a motor off an M6 that was recently in a wreck, so I said that’s fine, but at that point I should have started to put 2 and 2 together. I am only hoping that the engine I have right now up here will work, and he didn’t just try and fix my old motor with parts and pieces etc. As I have said to Ranger. There was never ever any reason for us not to believe him. He came through for us on stuff in the beginning, but lesson learned here. If I go back and analyze conversations over the years, some things just don’t add up. All the way from the NOS days to now.. When I originally sent it back to ASR – the time table was roughly 3 months to get the TT project down. It was suppose to be ready for bimmerfest. Well bimmerfest past, so did sema, texas mile, bimmerfest again, sema, Gumball 3000 and so on. These were events that we kept getting promised to have the cars ready for, and consistently fell through each time. It was crazy – a few months before I was to go on the Gumball Rally I phoned Abid and said – hey get the car ready at least for the Gumball. I’ll be running the car through Europe and the northeast part of North America – A PERFECT ADVERTISING OPPORTUNITY for you. He said yes let’s do it. Again… Nothing at all materialized. From the start he’s been telling me another month another month and yes another month……….. To date I have seen (1) turbo, and a few down pipes that I have no idea even if they were for my car or not, and OH yes the piece of sheet metal with (2) holes cut in it that was supposed to be the start of the intake. Saw this when I picked up my car a few weeks ago. I am so patient that I even had the thought after seeing the piece of sheet metal to leave the car there a bit longer. I sat outside his shop pacing and wondering what the hell to do – I just drove 1200 miles with a truck and trailer. You see when you have that much money tied up in a project like this – you just keep hanging on and waiting like a kid outside a candy shop. BUT I realized I had to come to grips. This was not going to happen, so the decision was made – I’m out.

Brembo Brake story… The story that I will only go so far into, and you can take it from there. Sooooo a year and a half ago roughly I called ASR. I said if we are going to have this much power – hook me up with a nasty set of Brembos for stopping power!! So what did I do? I ordered them. They are NOT cheap! Over 6K.. I visited ASR roughly 4 to 6 times physically over the past 2 years, and every time I kept forgetting to see my MONSTER Brembos.. The ones he told me that were there and purchased already. I had been asking and asking about them. Well in Sept I showed up at ASR and I am walking around the shop. I see BIG brembos!! Hey my brakes are really there! ASR says yes yes those are yours. Cool.. I’m ecstatic. Anyway, so fast forward, I go to get my car right? I ask for my Brembos that were sitting in the shop (that were supposedly mine) that were not there anymore. The answer I get is they are up in my storage – so go get them… Then a few minutes later I’m told another guy that ordered brembos for a 335 accidentally took them, and they are sitting in his house. So I say I’ll wait go get them.. Then I’m told the guy is on Vacation and won’t be back for a week. So this is complete BS.. He never had my brakes – in fact still today – no brakes, and yet more $$ down the drain..

Things I’m missing to date, and I’m sure this list will grow over the days / weeks to come
        *Brembo Brakes
        *Clutch Pressure Plate
*Bolts for plate and disc (clutch)
*Crankshaft Pulley and Belts (evosport pulley system I had)
*Front exhaust manifold cover shield for 6-10 cylinders
        *Drive belts
        *Exhaust
        *spark plug wires

BTW – I owe Gintani a call back. I had contacted them about a week before I pulled out of ASR and Alex was good to talk to. After picking the car up and getting it home I was almost embarrassed to call Gintani back. This car is a FKG wreck! I mean the engine compartment looks like my wallet after I left ASR’s shop. Believe it or not it is hard to write this post. Abid was thought to have been a good friend. Someone we could trust, but only to be crapped on day after day, year after year. We gave him so many chances to even surrender and just be done. I asked him several times from August until December to just put the car back the way it was, and I’ll just go away. He would never budge – he just kept saying one more month, and then I thought I had him convinced to put my engine back to normal, but then he said he had to order new parts for my motor because he modded certain parts of my motor already. I didn’t see any mods to my motor – does anyone else. I mean did the project just become a delusional thing to him? I don’t know I’m just glad I’m out of there. I can only hope he understands that this is not over. I want ALL my parts / Brakes / and cash back. I don’t care how I get them – just want them back. Any decent business person would come to the table and work things out in a situation like this. I know I would if one of my customers felt completely bent over. I have never been flagrant with ASR, and have tried my best to keep this at a professional level, but it hurts too much now. I need closure on this situation, and I’m going to figure out how to get it. Thanks guys for the support, and if anyone out there has a map of an M5 engine E60/S85 I sure could use one. LOL!! Hey any of you guys have spare spark plug wires too?? LOL FK this!

^ Make sure you guys actually read this entire post. Don't skim over it, read it.

Yes, you could probably write a book Steve but that isn't a bad thing in my mind. You trusted and got burned. That doesn't make you a bad person, you are a good person at heart and I don't want to downplay this, but it is a car. You are blessed to be in the position to be able to attempt to do what you did. If the legal system in this country still works you will hopefully get compensation and ASR will never be working on any M5's again.

I am deeply sorry for what you went through and it is a terrible situation. I know you are frustrated as is Ranger but at least you guys aren't hiding somewhere and not letting people know what happened. You are doing a service by speaking up.

I also think what you say about being an M5board freak should not be downplayed. That board should take responsibility for what happened, certainly some as that is where this all originated. When people questioned Abid (like myself) on how exactly he was going to go about this the posts were deleted and the users were banned. Gustav shares the blame in this and has not come forward to my knowledge to you or Ranger to take any responsibility for what his board did to you while he was making money off ASR vendor fees. I do not believe that is right, whatsoever.

We will help you out however you can. Don't be ashamed to ask for any parts, this community is pretty good at pulling together. I know it is a small consolation but we will do our part to help mitigate what was done to you.
