    • New C63 AMG and M156 V8 1/4 mile record - 10.87@131! Congratulations to MHP and Dodger63

      A new 1/4 mile record for quickest and fastest C63 and overall 63 amg was set at the MIR dragstrip by dodger63. This is an absolutely phenomenal time and an incredible achievement especially when one factors in this was done all on the motor, no nitrous or other power adder. The modifications are as follow: MHP tuning V3 CDT, MHP long tube headers , modified airbox, and drag radials along with race gas. Congratulations once again to MHP and dodger63 for a stunning new record and raising the bar!

        I was told race gas and the appropriate tuning to compliment it by MHP.
        Oh ok, the times are still incredible but it makes a bit more sense now.

        It all makes sense once it is put in context. What really shows you how impressive this really is happens to be those who are shocked and denying it. Goes to show just how big this is. I admit, I am blown away by the result as well.

        This has been promoted to the front page, we need the Vbox graph ASAP. Is the Vbox run a new record as well?

        Also, I'm not at my own comp so I can't edit the slip to flip it, Andy if you can repost it that would help me or I will just update it when I get back to my computer.

        I want to say that the shift doesn't take .4 to complete but it literally adds .4 to a 60-130 run, we know this from data obtained from the vbox vs runs with 1 shift vs 2 on the same car same section of road etc, you're seeing the culmination of shift time at a speed where there is significant aero drag + loss of momentum on shift + dropping back down the powerband post shift. Additionally the reason this ends up being such a big diff is because of the way the C63 is geared, at 60mph you're 200rpm from redline in 2nd gear, and at 130 you're in 5th gear unless in manual mode so you can hold 4th. Typically when shooting for 60-130 in a 63 AMG you want to be in 3rd gear manual mode to start (skip 2-3 shift) click off one shift and hold 4th through 130mph (200rpm from redline). That and this trans is definitely no DSG.

        i guess my memory was off. I feel like the drag tire time for the zr1 at MIR was only .1 or .2 seconds quicker as well. I havent looked in a while, but feel like a while ago it was 10.9 street and 10.7 drags. And I think the Z06 did 10.9 on streets ?

        Definitely not if the car is a DD. Z06 interior is all plastic and the leather is $#@! at best. It's far from comfortable. It may be a better bang for the buck for someone who wants to spend over 60K on a car that sits in the garage 300 days a year and only goes to the track.

        Depending on how it's modded possibly (nitrous), but the ZR1s weren't on DRs like the Z06 was, huge diff as I'm sure you know.
