• ESS tuning threatens BimmerBoost with legal action over revealing issues with the supercharged RDsport stroker motor

Asbjorn from ESS sent some very nasty letters threatening Bimmerboost with legal action over revealing issues with the supercharged stroker motor. Frankly, we do not understand why Asbjorn is doing this as it is completely beneath any professional company and far more could be accomplished by taking the higher road as one would expect the head of a large BMW aftermarket company to do. BimmerBoost does not condone these actions and finds them offensive and unprofessional. No company should say they would take pleasure in hurting anyone.

      Here is what Asbjorn@ESS sent:

      12-28-10:

The response stated that our sources have given us different information than what has been posted around the web on the subject. Asbjorn would send another e-mail shortly after:

This is simply deplorable. Stating one would take pleasure in hurting a person and their family is not how professional companies operate in the United States. They may not have the First Amendment in Norway, but we sure have it in the United States, and BimmerBoost will not be bullied or intimidated by ESS or anyone else for that matter.

We realize that AJ likely sent these e-mails in the heat of the moment which is why the response was one that dismissed the idle threats:

Asbjorn once again responded with threats:

After this nothing was received for a few days until today, January 2, 2011 when Asbjorn sent another e-mail. His tone was completely different in this one and clearly he realized he made a mistake and attempted to play nice asking to bury the hatchet and move on. The tone expressed here by AJ is one much more in line with what one would expect. Addtionally, we commend Asbjorn on wanting to mend fences and do what is best for ESS and BimmerBoost. We would like nothing more than to do so and thank Asbjorn on the compliments paid to Bimmerboost:

The points raised were addressed and here is part of the response:

We were more than willing to mend any fences and take the higher ground rather than lob threats and insults but Asbjorn@ESS reverted back to his previous form after I thought we came to an understanding:

Now, we simply have had enough of these threats and insults. This is beneath ESS and BimmerBoost is not going to be pushed around into doing what ESS wants us to do. They can threaten, yell, scream, or even try to play nice for an e-mail or two.

We have nothing against ESS. We honestly do wish ESS the best and will continue to give the products fair and equal coverage on the front page and throughout the forum. We intend to do what is best for BMW enthusiasts.

BimmerBoost would like to be the first to extend its hand in friendship despite the threats and insults. We feel this type of behavior from ESS does not do BimmerBoost or ESS any good. We think it needs to stop and we can all be far more productive using this energy to support one another instead of threatening to bring someone else down and taking pleasure in it. We should help one another and start the year off positively, certainly not like this.

In an effort to make sure we report the most accurate information possible, we will take Robert Collins up on his invitation to take a look at the stroker and the parts as well as his $100 incentive in doing so. We will take pictures and report back exactly what we learn. That is as fair as we can possibly be and it is being done on their terms. It is as simple as that and we wish all parties involved in this the best. It is high time for this all to come to an end and if we have to be the ones to set the precedent on cordial communication and interaction, so be it.

I really do not know what to say to all this. I have a family, I feel protective over it and would not want anyone I love harmed in any way. I will not choose sides.

That is how they should be going about this, stating this is not a typical ESS case and a one-off project.

All I have to say to Asbjorn is, learn from Wayne/Powerchip and do not go down that route especially when your hand is so weak. Doing so in the manner that they did just makes them look petty and nothing like a professional operation.
I completely agree. He's just been deflecting since the inception of the incident so as to save face. He obviously doesn't know that the type of people who truly care about this are the same people who understand the circumstances involved with engine modification.

This is my last post on this topic. Keep in mind, my post about the truth is just that. ESS actions & concerns are completely different than mine, it is what it is (to me). I prefer not to participate in soap opera drama, made for the internet banter. Instigate all you want, I don't care. There's enough productive things to do at my shop.

Whoever would like to believe everything they hear then here goes...

PG lets me drive his car when it was running. Does that mean his car blew up? Did that question make you think that his car blew up?

We are going to re-build PG's engine. It must mean that it blew up, right?

I drive fast. Does that mean that I race on public roads?

A Bugatti Veyron can be bought for a little under a million dollars & I'm going to the Bugatti dealership tomorrow. Does that mean I'm going to buy one tomorrow?

We are building a 5 Liter motor with twin turbo's, the HP is going to be around 1300whp before Nitrous to cool the intercooler. That's only the start of it, wait till you see the suspension set up along with the custom aerodynamics which are being tested in a wind tunnel to figure out drag efficiencies. I have permission to drive the car anytime & will race anyone...

        Sure. Believe what you want.

You are not making much sense here or even much of coherent point.

Yes, ESS actions and concerns are different than your own. You prefer not to participate in soap opera drama yet Robert states you and him did exactly that by saying the motor was blown to mess with people? Now you are saying that is completely against what you do? Which is it? Complete conflict here.

No, rebuilding the engine does not mean it blew up. You saying it blew up, then covering it up, then telling Vik one thing and refusing to share the details makes people speculate on what is really going on. Especially when you jerked them around with info playing some game which maybe it actually wasn't a game? Maybe you were being honest about the motor and its issues and now you are trying to spin it to get inline with the "official" stance now being taken?

This is just odd, the whole thing.

Here's what I see. Looks like the motor never blew up. Someone kept calling coercing Sam to try to admit to something that didn't happen. Maybe Sam & Robert discussed this persistent badgering to get a "blown engine" answer & eventually decided that the next time the response should be along the lines of, "Yeah whatever" just to get this person off their back. Now now becomes gospel & undisputed proof that the engine blew. This "Yeah whateve". Front page news on all the website, undisputed proof.

I don't understand how this works. If I say, I heard Drew blew his motor yesterday on Uranus & now he's rebuilding it in his garage does that make front page news? Does Drew even have to go online & defend a baseless accusations without any foundation or proof? People talking & telling each other the engine must have blown because of circumstantial evidence X, Y & Z does not constitute proof. Somebody needs to see a blown engine & that person that saw it with their own eyes needs to post about it else it's hearsay.

Man oh man, some people need to see "Dr. Phil" because the reasoning I'm reading sure makes little sense.
So let me understand. So someone has admitted to something that didn't happen?
What's the logic in that? Do not get it.
Now if a rumor was intended to be spread on purpose then I guess that's a personal issue and ... whatever.

So what's intended for the build?
Many of you may remember the comments from HPF about TT'ing the E92 M3. It didn't sound promising and if so the dollars would be astronomic.
Personally if you want to run Texas and do 200+ mph then get a Lambo and UGR TTG build. I mean if you have that kind of money?

Sticky save those messages from Asbjorn b/c in a court of law they'll go over real well ... NOT. He'll end up having to pay you. Click here to enlarge

If you are trying to make sense of the guy who told people his motor was blown and now is wondering why people are saying his motor has issues, might as well give up. No one gets it, and it just makes you wonder what is truly going on.

There isn't enough money at work here to go the UGR TT route plus it is a learning process for the owner. If 200 mph in the mile was the goal he went about it all the wrong way. The intention of the build? Who knows, it changes depending on what story they are going with at the moment. Then again, maybe it is all a joke? Who knows.

Well he has to, or else the stories, build up, and car test simulations were for nothing.

I'm just wondering why if all those simulations were accurate they didn't tell him this to begin with?

I don't want to be mean and say I called it... but I did:
