    • Watch the impressive acceleration of the B58 M Performance F30 BMW xDrive 340i

We all already know the new B58 3.0 liter turbo inline-6 is underrated and makes considerably more power and torque than the N55 3.0 liter turbo inline-6 it replaces. BMW rates the motor at 320 horsepower and 330 lb-ft of torque at the crank.

The M Performance Power Kit raises output to a claimed 355 horsepower and 370 lb-ft of torque. Considering the car is already making more power and torque than that without the power kit as it dynos 331 rear wheel horsepower and 339 lb-ft of torque at the wheels we can only imagine what the actual output is with BMW's power bump.

Let's assume gains of another 20 wheel horsepower and 20 lb-ft of torque at the wheels. To find out for sure we will need to see a dyno but there is no denying the car moves very well in the video below.

Keep in mind this is an xDrive model which is heavier due to the all wheel drive system. That just makes the 0-200 kph acceleration all the more impressive:

That thing is moving. This is how n54s and n55s should have come out of the factory. The stock tune on the n55 is crap.

The N54 came out a long time ago. You couldn't give it more performance or it would be too close to the M3 that followed.

It already pissed people off it made the same WHP the E46 M3 did. That is why BMW didn't rate it higher and underrated it.

I know its moving well but its hard to compare kph and mph. I'm just imaging 200kph being 120mph.

Just think of it as making 350 whp or so. That's E92 M3 power.

It's always tough to clock something in a video, but my rough estimate said that did 0-200km/h in about 13-14s. The couple stock M4 DCTs I could find did it in about 13s. I have a really hard time believing a 340 x-drive, even with the ppk, is really that fast. I think there are some downhill shenanigans going on here to help out.

it does sound nice though Click here to enlarge

Was fairly cold out when they ran it too.

I think it is the awd system that lets it get such a good time. Traction can do wonders

I just looked on edmunds and weight difference between the rwd and awd is only 25 pounds. If that is true I think it would be a no brainer to get the awd 340i

Yes and no. AWD helps off the line, hurts at higher speeds. And they didn't even brake boost or use launch control (where AWD would really help). So they didn't really take advantage of the AWD.

I'd be shocked if that were true. Plus, there have traditionally been other benefits of getting RWD (lower ride height, more aluminum in the suspension, etc). Not sure if that's the still the case on the F30. But if all that is nullified and it is really only 25lbs, I agree, no brainier.

Yea but it is a very short run only to about 120, anything above that and the m3/4 would fly away. Several other factors can play a role like 8 speed advantages over the dct(gearing, torque converter etc). Also we don't know how much the ppk package adds it could be an extra 50 hp for all I know. I would also like to see the m4 0-200 14 second run, was it traction limited or clean?

I was just going off magazine/website times. I'd assume they kept doing it until they got a clean pass to get the best time.

        You're not wrong.

        Still impressive non-M acceleration.

About 11 seconds to 125 mph?

60 seems is just over 4? 4.2 maybe?
