      This offer only goes until December 31, 2010 but if you have been waiting for purchase a Dinan stroker motor for your E60 M5 or E63 M6 now is the time. The stroker price has consistently come down since it was offered at $40k and now can be purchased for $30,999. In addition to the motor, Dinan is offering their high flow air mass meter/intake assemblies, underdrive pulley, exhaust, throttle bodies, and Stage 3 suspension system. Total value of the parts is about $10k and many would argue these parts should have been included for the price from the beginning (except for the suspension). This makes the stroker a far more attractive proposition. Contact Dinan if interested.

        See, I love the motor.

        But even for the BMW market these prices are ridiculous. I guess it's because I also own a 1991 mustang where a mass air meter is 139.99 and a set of headers is 239.99 at summit. Click here to enlarge

        If I had an E63 M6 Coupe or an E64 M6 Cabriolet and was bored with the stock 507-hp (ballpark 540-hp +/-) this actually not bad if you think of it in terms of the development costs. Dinan is getting this stuff off the shelves now rather than later. An owner may think "After some thought , I will take the S85 stroker engine. Wait, I get all these expensive goodies thrown in for free? I will take it here is my AMEX".

        Excellent marketing for Dinan as the guy's in the M6 demographic will seriously consider this. And this option cheaper (relativley speaking) to do than looking at wholesale prices on an M6 these days. As usual speed costs money, how fast do you want to go?         It's way better than when it $40k for just the motor and you had to add all the other parts on separately... cost over $50k.

        Sure, you can go a lot faster for $30,999. You will enjoy it until you pull up next to a blown M3 and it makes you go "WTF just hapened?" or when the SC kits for the V10 come out offering much more power at less than half the price.

        I do think it is awesome but if performance is a primary concern, it is a terrible $ to hp ratio for what you get. That said, I would love to have one and if I could afford to I would do it.

        I think the motor itself is awesome, stroker V10 sounds really good and I love the powerband. But even if you throw in all that $#@!, it's still a 31k stroker kit.

        The numbers I've seen for the strokers are around 530-550rwhp. That is a LOT of coin for a 100rwhp increase. I would rather take my $30k and put that as a 50% down payment on a used GTR or Z06. But if I were rolling, as in I had a full stable of modded F-cars, P-cars, etc, and I wanted something different... then I would probably do the stroker.

        Same.

        I don't have the luxury of a stable of ridiculous cars to choose from so for me it has to be boost as all that money for only that increase is tough to justify. Nothing like all motor power though, if I could afford it and had other cars like you said, I sure would do it.
