The E-Class is getting a facelift as we all know by now thanks to the various spyphotos. There has not been much talk as to changes under the hood and it was simply assumed that the current drivetrains would all carry over. BenzBoost member Even Money shared a tip he learned that the facelift E63 AMG would get a dual clutch transmission and all wheel drive. ...Published on 10-18-2012 02:40 AM
The new R172 generation SLK55 features a naturally aspirated M156 5.5 liter V8. It is basically the M157 twin turbo unit sharing the same bore and stroke as well as direct injection but without the turbos and having a higher compression ratio at 12.6:1 versus 10.0:1 for the twin turbo M157 motor. ...Published on 10-16-2012 09:50 PM
The Mercedes M157 Twin Turbo V8 is a flat out beast. It is capable of over 600 wheel horsepower with just an ECU tune. Spy photographers are reporting the next gen W205 C63 AMG is testing with the M157 powerplant as shown below. With this motor under the hood and confirmed reports of the M3 getting a turbocharged inline-6 with around 450 horsepower, it would seem the new C63 AMG is simply going to bulldoze through its competition. ...Published on 10-15-2012 07:14 PM
Despite claims from the team that the car was well suited for the Korean circuit, the team fell flat and failed to score a single point. Schumacher managed to finish in 13th place, while Rosberg was forced to retire on lap 2 after a collision with Kobayashi on the first lap into turn 3. At the start of the race, both Mercedes driver made a clean get away after going into the first turn but Rosberg gets pushed to the outside and loses a few spots. Going down the straightaway to turn three Button, Kobayashi, and Rosberg arrive at the same time. Kobayashi gets sandwiched between them and as they brake, Kobayashi hits Rosberg in his side pod damaging his radiator and then takes out Button's front right wheel. Mercedes had a better qualifying session that last week in Japan. Nico Rosberg was able to grab 9th and Schumacher 10th. The car looked fairly stronger and more well suited for the Korean track. They easily made it into Q3 but at the start of the third session both Mercedes drivers parked their cars near the pit lane exit and sat there. When both driver finally left the pits they chose not to set a time and went straight back to the pits. near the end of the session, they went back out and set times that were good for ninth and tenth. ...Published on 10-12-2012 07:21 PM
The P31 Package for the W204 C63 AMG gives the 6.2 liter AMG V8 motor stronger internals, more horsepower, and a more aggressive tune. The tune is so aggressive some tuners have been accused of simply re-selling it to standard C63 owners. Additionally, getting more power out of P31 cars has proven difficult with scarcely any positive gains posted to this point. ...Published on 10-11-2012 11:58 PM
Mercedes decided to honor the 45th anniversary of the Mercedes SL with a special anniversary edition of the SLS AMG GT3. Quite a nice way to honor the SL and only five of these will be made making them quite rare indeed. Quite a shame if one were to be lost in a wreck during a race. Each car will get carbon fiber bodywork that is covered in magno graphite matte paint so they will all look the exact same. ...Published on 10-11-2012 04:00 AM
This is a rather interesting development in the Mercedes-Benz AMG performance scene. Truth is, World Motorsports is a newer name and one not seen on BenzBoost before. A Mercedes SLS AMG Twin Turbo kit certainly is quite a way to make an entrance. They already seem to have the turbos mounted but hardware is only one part of puzzle. What about the tuning? What about the impact of the torque on the SLS dual clutch transmission? These are just some of the problems posed. ...Published on 10-10-2012 05:24 PM
The Corvette ZR-1 is a seriously fast piece of machinery. Easily a 10 second car capable of 130+ in the 1/4 mile. The E55 in stock form is no match for it, not even close. Modified however, and things change. Yes, the ZR-1 is much lighter and mod for mod will be faster but that is not the discussion here. This is about if a modified E55 with the M113K motor and modified stock supercharger can beat the ZR-1. ...Published on 10-09-2012 10:02 PM
An in depth comparison between the AMG M157 and BMW S63TU V8 Twin Turbo motors similar to the M278 versus N63 article that BenzBoost did recently is coming. For now, let's compare the M157 and S63TU motors in stock form. Insideline did a dyno test of both motors and has a dynojet dyno overlay for us comparing the curves of both motors. What is interesting is that both hit the same peak horsepower values. ...Published on 10-08-2012 12:52 PM
Mercedes AMG F1 had a busy week. They announced the signing of Mclaren's Lewis Hamilton to a 3 year contract starting next year worth at least 60 million pounds. A few days later, Schumacher announced his retirement from F1 at the end of the season. On race weekend the team struggled. Both drivers failed to make it into the top 10 qualifying. The year is not over yet but certainly is winding down. Good news for Mercedes-Benz as they lead BMW by 5,200 units sold up until this point. In the United States that makes for a 8.7% gain in September for Mercedes-Benz and 12.7% year to date. The Mercedes and BMW sales battle came down to the last few days of the year with every sale having an impact in the tight race in 2011 but it looks like Mercedes has themselves a bit of a cushion this year. ...Published on 10-04-2012 04:41 AM
All good things must come to an end, even for one of the greatest drivers of a generation. It seems the announcement by Mercedes of the signing of Lewis Hamilton was the final push Michael Schumacher needed to finally decide to retire from Formula 1 racing for good. Schumacher seems to be at peace with his decision seemingly knowing that his ride in F1 had come to an end this season. ...Published on 10-04-2012 02:06 AM
You should know by now that the E-Class is going away from its separated headlights and to a single style headlight. This change will not just be for the sedan and wagon as shown in spy photos but the C207 E-Coupe will also be getting a similar facelift. A bit of a bummer that Mercedes is ditching the signature headlight design element of the E-Class which makes this move feel like change for the sake of change. ...Published on 10-02-2012 09:33 PM
The spyphotos below capture the upcoming Mercedes-Benz GLA. This vehicle was originally referred to as the GLC and is intended as a BMW X1 competitor. Well, now that we officially know the name what other details are there? For one, it will most likely be coming to the United States market which tends to eat crossovers and entry level SUV's up. The C63 AMG Black and CLK63 AMG Black Series are two very similar vehicles making this for a very interesting comparison. The C63 Black Series really being an updated version of the what the CLK63 Black Series was. When the CLK63 AMG Black Series was announced in 2007 Mercedes shocked a lot of people making such an aggressive track oriented model with no back seats and very wide bodywork. The C63 Black series is much of the same. ...Published on 09-28-2012 07:02 PM

Mercedes confirmed that they signed Lewis Hamilton to a three year deal with the contract totaling about $100 million dollars. Hamilton will end his association with McLaren which lasted 14 years. The C63 AMG Black Series is in a much higher state of tune than standard C63 AMG which should be obvious to most people. Renntech in SAE correction got a baseline of 434.4 and 436.7. The tuned numbers are 453.9, 452.8, and 451.2 on the three post tune dyno runs. This makes for gains just under and around 20 wheel horsepower on 93 octane pump gas.
