Mercedes AMG success continued in Shanghai where the team finished 1-2 for their fourth consecutive victory and third consecutive 1-2 finish. Lewis Hamilton took the win followed by teammate Nico Rosberg. Mercedes is simply dominating the 2014 Formula 1 season at this point and everyone is left wondering who it will be who may challenge them. Great results here from the Gulf region with an SL63 putting down some impressive numbers at the Yas Marina drag strip in the Abu Dhabi. The R231 SL63 AMG is the lightest car available in the Mercedes-Benz lineup with the M157 5.5 liter twin turbo AMG V8 and it shows. It isn't light at ~4100 pounds but it is about 200 pounds less than the rear wheel drive E63 AMG. Why does anyone need over 600 horsepower at the wheels in a G-Wagon? Come on now, nobody reading this site is asking that question. A 5600 pound German tank pushing 620 horsepower to all four wheels along with 547 pound-feet of torque is absurdly awesome. The motor is built by Eurocharged and is bored out to 5.7 liters with ported heads. Here is a great comparison featuring the best naturally aspirated V8 powerlpant in AMG's history going up against AMG's newer turbocharged design. The M159 V8 in the SLS Black Series is a 6.2 liter naturally aspirated V8 and this particular car is tuned by Weistec along with featuring long tube headers.
