BMW qualifies in 4th and 8th spots for the ALMS race tomorrow August, 22 at Road America. Weather has been a challenge with a storm doing some damage to the track and the surrounding areas. Chevrolet managed to take the pole as well as the second spot with their pair of ZR1's. The season is winding down and BMW is tied with Ferrari for the lead. A strong showing in this race is vital for BMW's chances to finish atop the overall standings. ...Published on 08-21-2010 08:13 PM
BMW is offering aerodynamic, exhaust, and wheel upgrades for the X6. The exhaust system is lighter than stock and available for the 35i and 50i models. The wheels are lightweight for their size but quite large at 21 inches. The aerodynamic kit includes rear spoiler, add on diffuser, sideskirts and front bumper pieces. ...Published on 08-20-2010 09:33 PM
Sport Auto took the M3 GTS around the ring in 7 minutes and 48 seconds. Laps under the 8 minutes barrier are impressive but we are a bit disappointed with this result. The E46 M3 CSL managed a time of 7:50. The 911 new GT3 manages a 7:40. It is a good result but not exaclty what were expecting especially when put against the CSL. We expect this time to be whittled down with some more laps. Maybe someone should have Walter Rohrl drive it? ...Published on 08-19-2010 08:27 PM
This E30 belongs to our member Karel. He was nice enough to share the details on his simply amazing daily driven 9 second BMW. The car has run 9.62 @ 147 mph in Sweden. This is to our knowledge the first E92 M3 to be running the full Arkym body kit. We had photos of a previous E92 M3 running the kit here but it seems that car did not have the rear diffuser which this one does. Enjoy the pictures. ...Published on 08-19-2010 12:01 AM
Car Magazine has an article on what is the best M3. They choose to compare the E92 M3 GTS, E46 M3 CSL, and E30 M3 Sport Evo as their examples of the best M3's. The article gives a nice overview and some basic information but no real insight. No lap times, no perspectives from various owners or race car drivers, nothing much really to justify what on paper should be an epic comparison. Without the E36 M3 included, it really isn't a true comparison. Omitting an entire generation is not just an oversight, it is a mistake of epic proportions which leaves the article meaningless without having every generation of M3 included. ...Published on 08-18-2010 07:41 AM
Unfortunately, the Wiesmann MF5 will no longer have the BMW S85 5.0 liter V10. As was announced a couple weeks ago here, it seems S85 motor production has come to an end leaving Wiesmann without a motor. The MF5 will continue to be produced however Wiesmann is waiting to hear back from BMW on what motor they will be able to use. More than likely a twin turbo V8 of some sort will be the replacement which is not a bad consolation prize. Now, feast your eyes on the beauty that is the Wiesmann MF5. ...Published on 08-18-2010 07:05 AM
Hartge has released their body kit for the BMW X1 along with a quad exhaust, wheels, and lowering springs. The X1 is not exactly the meanest looking BMW but the Hartge upgrades certainly make it look more aggressive. Hartge also has ECU tunes for both diesel motors which the USA will no doubt not be getting when the X1 crosses over. ...Published on 08-17-2010 11:32 PM
Auto Express is reporting BMW is considering a 6 Series based Shooting Brake which would be unveiled at the Paris auto show. This would share the drivetrain options that the 6 series coupe would have so N55 6 cylinder and N63 V8 twin turbo power. Our main question to BMW regarding this 6 series hatchback is, why? ...Published on 08-16-2010 07:56 PM

This is a very exciting development. The Morgan Eva GT was officially unveiled today and it is a beauty. With a low curb weight and N54 power, this is going to be a very, very fun car to drive. It is available in either automatic or manual. Imagine a BMS JB3 upgrade on top of this car? Morgan did an incredible job taking their classic styling into the future. Oh, and it gets around 40 MPG as well when measured in imperial units. ...Published on 08-14-2010 06:28 PM
BMW invited members of the media out to take a mint 1988 E28 M5 out along the California Coast. BimmerBoost did not get its invitation as I lost the key to my mailbox and it is no doubt sitting in there. Anyway, the E28 M5 is the original M5. With a motor derived from the M1 supercar, it is a car that will always be held in high esteem by the M faithful. Read Edmund's Straigthtline take below. ...Published on 08-13-2010 10:50 PM
G-power is claiming they have hit a new top speed record of 372 km/h. This was done by the twin supercharged E60 M5 Hurricane RR with a special body kit designed for top end aerodynamics. We don't doubt they hit this number but who was this verified by? We only have the G-power press release to go on, no GPS readout, no video, nothing. We are not saying we don't take G-power at their word, but this record needs verification. ...Published on 08-13-2010 09:12 PM

Click the link to see an edited transcript of a BimmerBoost interview with Chris Bergemann owner of HPF. As this is E46 month, we wanted to do something interesting for the E46 community. I conducted a phone interview with Chris asking questions that had been on my mind about HPF for some time. The raw interview is also posted in MP3 format if one would like to listen to it. It is about 30 minutes in length and I want to take the time now to thank Chris once again for taking the time to speak with me and answer all my questions. It was a good conversation and we went a bit over the time limit as we delved into some topics so I just want to make it clear that we appreciate Chris taking the time. ...Published on 08-09-2010 01:20 PM
Many M3 owners like to opt for 20 inch rims. I am not one of them as I feel the weight penalty is not worth it. Well, 3D Design has a new wheel which is a lightweight 20 inch option. The 20 x 10 weighs in at a mere 22 pounds making it one of the lightest wheels in the 20 inch segment. The wheel is a simple, straightforward design that is 8000 ton forged as a single piece. ...byPublished on 08-08-2010 11:32 AM
This is BMW's 8th podium finish and they have finished on the podium in every race. Unfortunately, the BMW's did not have their best race with Bill Auberlin also crashing off road at one point. The racing was very tight but the M3's just never really got going with the tire grip being an issue. A 3rd place finish leaves BMW and Ferrari tied for first place. 3 more races to go, it is going to be tight down the stretch. ...Published on 08-08-2010 11:10 AM
