    • BimmerBoost user 930chas is having E-Shift Performance swap a Supra 2JZ-GTE into his E39 M5

No doubt there are going to be some BMW purists who freak out when they see this. They will avert their eyes and start shouting "blasphemy" as they see the supra turbo motor in the E39 M5. Well, if you happen to see one of these "purists" acting in such a matter, please smack some sense into them. E-shift performance has done several of these swaps in to the E39 and E36 and we must say it makes a lot of sense. The BMW S62 simply has not seen the aftermarket development the 2JZ-GTE has and to get big power out of it who knows how much money it would take. This swap makes a lot of sense especially financially and the motor does not look out of place in the E39 M5 engine bay. We will be posting updates on the progress as soon we get them from 930chas. In the mean time, check out some of the work E-shift has done below.

Update: E-shift has been great to work with so far. No bull$#@! or broken promises. Mike has talked me into going with a Greddy plenum and a q45 throttle body and also running a twin disk clutch setup instead of the HPF feramic clutch. He is hoping to have the car finished by the Nov 20th track day at MIR. At least be able to do some test runs and maybe dial it in more at that event. Motor and transmission should be installed over the weekend, and I will post pictues when I receive them.

Would you prefer a supra or an M5 with the motor?
tough choice, if it was a 2008 or so m5 i would go with that but i would take any mk4 with a big turbo

Doing this yourself would likely be over your head. E-shift has this down, the swap isn't even all that expensive all things considered. Compared to SC kits for M5's, this is a better way to go.
