    • Discovery Automotive destroys customer's car along with what was left of their reputation

Take this as a warning BMW enthusiasts. Discovery Automotive was able to create a good reputation for themselves on M5board where they profited from exposure in cleaning up RMS mistakes. Shadowman, Bill of Discovery Automotive, was able to force his way into the lucrative high-end BMW tuning scene through the easiest route available, which is taking advantage of M5 owners. To be honest, we fell for this as well seeing Discovery Automotive take great care in posting their builds to give the appearance of a high end shop only for horror stories to start to surface.

What happened in this particular instance is that Bill took a car that was under his care, a twin turbo Ford GT, and went out to a spot known to the locals as a "drag strip" and abused the car resulting in losing control and wrecking it. Bill, William E. Knobloch, would begin to distort the truth attempting to skirt responsibility for what happened. What happened was he behaved irresponsibly with an immensely powerful vehicle that did not belong to him and wrecked it playing around like some teenager who couldn't control himself. Feel free to read the whole story in quotes below.

Take this as a warning when sending your car to a tuner or who you are using as your tuner. This isn't the only tuner who has behaved irresponsibly with a car under their care. How many of them go out under the guise of "testing" only to race around with someone else's property? Well, at least we all know that Discovery Automotive is one tuner BMW fans can cross off the list, permanently.

        thats nuts. Old geezer too.

tuning with a boost gauge in the passenger seat....I have the common sense to not try that LOL

On some porsches I used to stick a hose out of the hood with a gauge on it and put it under the wiper blade, but hey, at least the gauge was in my face where I could see it and watch the road at the same time....not down in the seat next to me.

I just can't believe the guy won't own up and is trying to pass this off to the GT owner's insurance company. I hope he doesn't escape with only his reputation taking a hit.

He looked at me and said "Ray, I could tell you what really happened but I will never tell you what really happened, I can't..."
Sounds like he got in a race and lost it...

I can't imagine being comfortable enough in someone else's car (price notwithstanding) to destroy it. Crazy story

It is horrible situation and Shadowman has no class or integrity.

In a way it is good this happened as all the negatives will filter to the surface and people won't trust him with their cars again.

I would take legal action. If you run business w/o insurance they are asking for trouble. Destroy that beautiful car is just plain wrong. He should pay the guy in full.

What a huge tool. And he has the audacity to put that car on his home page with a description of what he's "going to do to it."

Jesus Christ, that is the most sickening story I have ever heard. This Shadowman douchebag should be strung up for this.

I cannot believe the composure of the victim in this series of events. Wow, he is handling himself very well. I could fathom how I would react.

Seriously, the owner is so composed it is amazing. He is right, it is just a car, but this dickhead at Discovery Automotive is trying to weasel his way out of this without any consequences.

He probably cannot afford to engage a contractor to do the coding required to adjust his site. What a fall down $#@! in the ass this guy is. It makes me sick.

Would you let a guy who doesn't know how to spell the word "lightning" work on your $180,000 car?

        http://www.discovery-automotive.com/...hiteLightening

And endlessly referring to cars as "gals" is creepy. as. $#@!.

This whole thing just goes to show how much power marketing on internet forums can have.

This guy has scammed people out of hundreds of thousands.

Looks like when he was "training" at RMS he sure learned a lot about how to behave like a con artist with no conscience.
