• DCT Build Part VII - Taking the BMW E92 M3 DCT to the next level, 800+ wheel horsepower clutch disc capacity

You have seen the DCT taken apart, what it looks like inside, worn clutch discs, and brand new higher capacity clutch discs made. The new discs handle 600+ and 700+ whp respectively. With my power goals, SSP has decided to build a clutch pack that is beyond anything developed at this time for the DCT. What is the power goal? Well, it is beyond what is currently available and SSP is currently developing a clutch disc pack capable of over 800 wheel horsepower.

      How is this being done?

The current clutch discs are of a thicker material than the stock discs. However, the stock clutch pack has 9 discs in it. By increasing the number of clutch discs they are going to increase the maximum torque capacity. By going to a thicker material and increasing the total number of discs to 11, the DCT in the BMW M3 will be taken to a level no one previously thought was possible. This is going to be similar to the GTR 1000 hp clutch setup by SSP (pictured) but the GTR uses more clutch discs albeit smaller, thinner discs.

What else is being done and how much time will it take?

The DCT is going to receive a cooling system based on what SSP has done with the GTR's. This will be a DCT specific application and will be great for the guys who track. No more overheats, no more staying away from the track on hot days. Look for a separate build thread specifically for the cooling system in the next few weeks. Regarding the time period, expect completion next month with the car returning fully assembled and capable of handling the increased power.

Sorry Sticky, I will keep on topic
Are you planning on creating a Build threads for your cars? Or am I dense and you already have one going?

I, as I'm sure many others, would be very interested in reading up on your cars.

Found it. JRCART has a tendency to not name his threads accordingly:

        "She's Home!!!!"

"Been Stock For Too Long, Hide The Women and Children"

        lol

because they rev extremely high?.. it kinda just makes sense to me, it has characteristics that go hand in hand with the natural characteristics of the engine.

ED: super super exciting though sticky, good to see it's got a heart again Click here to enlarge

Not really revs it's an engine design reason. Surprised "experts" who know my build better than I do don't see it especially when it has been discussed. Makes me feel like maybe they don't know what they are talking about.

I don't really see why winning or losing to you is what matters with my car. Really, I don't get it.

Because at one point you said your car was going to be faster than the Weistec CLK's and now you are going to eat those words and pay $1000

....it's Tuesday and the car is Still not running. A week ago they posted a pic of a completed motor on a stand ready to install and the car is Still not running, now Sticky is using Meth install as the excuse for the delay.

No, I never said my car was going to be faster than Weistec CLK's and Weistec cars have never been my goal. You seem to have made everything about yourself for some reason.

I don't even care about $1000 that's completely fine no big deal... I don't even see why you keep bringing it up as if it is.

I'm not making any excuses I haven't even called to check. Why don't you find out and let me know?

The point I was making is there is *a bit* more involved than just dropping a motor in and starting it. Relax.
