    • M Badges on a front wheel drive BMW and no this is not a joke - BMW 2-Series Active Tourer M Sport

This would be funny if it was not so sad. BimmerBoost joked about BMW producing an M version of the 2-Series Active Tourer but things are getting absurdly close to that ridiculous notion coming true. Introducing the BMW 2-Series Active Tourer M Sport. This is your standard Active Tourer 225i but with larger wheels, a body kit, M colored stitching, and some M badging on the interior. You know, as a link to all of those front wheel drive M cars that do not exist.

An M version is now closer to reality and the M division simply has lost its luster when you just plaster the M badge on anything, literally anything, in the lineup for extra cash. BimmerBoost would make a bigger of mockery of this if it was not so absurd to begin with. WTF happened to you BMW?

It's silly, and I really hope someone at the ///mmmMarketing division at BMW or M GmbH is reading this and making some changes (read: is getting fired and looking for a job). There should be no question as to what an M is or means, even if someone isn't really into motorsport.

I honestly think this whole thing is going to hurt everyone in the long run when they try to sell their cars off down the line. The differences between the models isn't clear-cut-dry, and I would bet that 99% of people buying a used BMW will not know or care to look at "what M meant at the time the car was sold"

Just like the "competition package" on the M5 - it's a stupid idea. The people who actually are buying the M5 for what it is are getting hit with the "cost" of buying the highest performing model. The owner is going to have a hell of a time finding any value of this package when they sell/trade their car in the future.

It's literally all the marketing division ruining this; it doesn't clarify anything to a purist, and confuses literally everyone including the purists. I would bet their whole internal reasoning for the "3 and 4 series" designation is to rip everyone off wanting 2 doors. It's stupid - and they are taking it way too far.

That's what it is supposed to mean, Motorsport. What f'ing Motorsport does this a front wheel drive BMW badged mini-van have to do with? Doesn't anyone at the M Division feel stupid seeing the symbol that represents what they do on this pile of junk? It's just to the point where I don't know what to say.

A while back a guy at my work has seen my m3 parked outside so he came up to me and was like hey man, you can appreciate this, i'm looking at getting the new X1M. I said there was no X1M and he said yea there is and told me about his experience at the dealer where he speced a x1 out with the m package. I just told him it was cool and to enjoy it. I didn't feel like explaining that his x1 was just getting a aero package and it wasn't on the same level as the x5M or my m3.

Kinda sad, he legit thought it was way more than just a X1 with a $2500 M aero package and some M logos...Oh well....

My head would have exploded or that discussion would have ended with a fist fight. Pretty much like every car discussion I have with a 'regular' person.
