      MotorTrend did a very interesting comparison pitting the Mustang GT with the new 5.0 V8 vs. the venerable BMW M3. The two cars are surprisingly evenly matched. The Mustang did have the higher trap speed in the 1/4 but the elapsed times were neck and neck. Around the road course, the M3 takes the victory in yet another closely contested matchup. Price is clearly in the favor of the Mustang and Ford has done a commendable job. Ultimately, MotorTrend picks the M3 as the better car and we can not disagree, the M3 is better. However, the Mustang GT is truly impressive and a worthy oppponent. Ford has really stepped up their game.

        M3 might be the more refined car, but not the faster car. The m3 had the comp pack with sticky tires. The mustang with 255s all around is $#@!. I always wanted to see comparissons done using hte same tires/sizes. It would be intresting to see the result.

        I think we all know what the outcome would be.

        The "Boss 302", - the graphics, + an inter-cooled twin-screw.......... I can see things getting pretty nasty.

        The M3 never has been the outright fastest car, that is not what it is about. MotorTrend gets it.

        I must say that I am thoroughly impressed with the new Mustang. A good friend had an 04 cobra, and it was typical muscle car...shoddy handling and no brakes. The new Mustang has picked up the slack. However, I would be hard pressed to drive home in a Ford at the end of the day.

        I agree but that is becoming a less and less influential factor as they continue this awesome streak they have going.
