• Rob Beck Upgraded Turbo 335 vs. bolt on Lamborghini Gallardo

The 335 in this video belongs to BimmerBoost user LostMarine. The Gallardo belongs to BimmerBoost user Byzantine. The 335 has Rob Beck upgraded turbos (20 psi) and dynos around 480 whp. The 335 is running a JB3, helix FMIC, and 96 octane. The Gallardo has been lightened by about 200 pounds (it is a 2006 model) and has the LOC exhaust, EVOMS tune, and Fabspeed cat delete. We thank these two for making the trip to Bolivia to run the cars and show the result! Enjoy the video.

I think we are pretty evenly matched though. I suppose then i could always do a bit of WR and drop some Lbs as well.. Either way, that car is pure sex, Dan is an outstanding enthusiast and a hell of a driver.

I run the same Boost on pump/meth as i do with racefuel/meth. The reason i had higher octane (5gal 100 unleaded from the station around the corner) in is because my flow sensor for the meth failsafe is still actiing up, so as a precautionary safety measure, i added a few gallons, coming out to 96/97 octane. I logged 20-21psi on pump/meth and race/meth and had the exact same timing curve, only slight more smooth witht e race fuel.

This run we hit a peak of 20psi briefly, and tapered to 18psi through redline

Car was full weight "street trim" (just discussed boost and octane though, usually run 18psi DD)

I had a great time. Dan is a true enthusiast, i would take his car over mine in without a doubt, and im glad we got the chance to do this. Looking forward to a few more fun encounters in the future
I was testing 20-21psi all the way through redline all week in anticipation for this, but i wasnt really sure if i wanted to keep testing without the afr and egt guages hooked up so i decided to go with a slightly different setup, a bit more aggressive then the JB's map 8, but not as aggressive as map 9.

Timing all week has been the same no matter whether its been 16psi-21 psi since i added the extra octane in.

as for more boost=more power? Yes.. i have nothing more than SOTP dyno to show for it, but in all my solo testing this week, i would bump the speedo limit much faster than what i think we did lastnight. But not to distract from the lambo, it could have been just a placebo effect since this time i had something to compare aganst.. only VBox #'s and trap speeds will tell us the whole story. But to answer your question in short. yes more boost is more power and ill be increasing it next time

thanks for the thorough reply, i hope you can continue to extract more and more power from your set up and wish one day we can meet up and have our own runs Click here to enlarge do you have any other races lined up? excluding the one battam3 wants in on.

comment on your reply though: you want to hook up an EGT gauge and AFR. the AFR one shouldnt be an issue, right in the DP bung, but for EGT, you could use the second DP bung, but you'll be getting a false reading. any EGT reading post turbo is not only smoothened but much lower in temperature (obviously). if you truly want a functional EGT gauge, you'll have to tap your exhaust mani, pre turbo. now this may sound like much more of an endeavor but it will be worth it as you will be getting EGT off exhaust pulses not a turbine steam. usually cylinder 6 runs the hottest, so you could choose that one.

Awesome cars...great video...and both of you are very good sports. I would love to see more runs, and possibly a longer (higher speed) run to let both really stretch their legs.

The lambo is a gorgeous car....the RB'd 335 is also very impressive. LM, loving the wheel choice, man.

White Castle 45 min prior to racing, Bathroom 10 min prior to racing, another 10lb reduction. Please don't act like a honda civic owner and gut your 45k bmw. Just run it as is and turn the boost up.

That part was a joke because the car is so dirty right now.

But since we are on the subject, i would need to do a full WR to be accuratley compared to other N54's. Thats what everyone is doing when they hit the 1/4 and gathering the trap speeds that are so contested these days. otherwsie im at a few hundred lb DISadvantage, especially when compared to 1'ers. Its just a shame i chose auto and not 6mt so i cant do the lightened trans parts as well... in addition to lightweight wheels that everyone runs when the do track testing. hell the old M6 reps would have been better weighing in @ 19#'s as opposed to the 24# the vmr's are.. maybe i should get the CF hood as well while Im at it Click here to enlarge

Get rid of the shaking on the dolly/skateboard shots (easy in after effects). Those dolly shots would be beautiful if they were smooth. Other than that nice job!

The best part is that my car is so quiet.. can't hear my exhaust, inside or out..Car is just moving right along, deceptively fast.. of course the Lambo's exhaust is deafening too. But its so heavenly sweet.. like God himself whispering in your ear..

        If you plan
on keeping her. I would save money for the tt turbo kit. Later build the engine.
I'm keeping my car forever also. To much Money dropped into
        it.

ill be adding new DP's in the near futur and ill just have the bungs welded before install. i dont think its going to be a "huge" difference in temps. matter of fact, i have read that you WANT the EGt about 12-18 inches behind turbo's. this is where is have seen every other modded motor have them placed, other than diesels. I could be wrong, but im not taking these turbo;s off again unless its absolutley neccessary
